Final High-End Gaming PC Build Advice ($3500–$5000 CAD) – After Researching Reddit Suggestions

  • New build or upgrade?
    • New Build!
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
    • No.
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Almost exclusively gaming.
      • Recent AAA titles
      • MMOs (my main genre)
      • Max settings when possible
      • Fast load times
      • Smooth performance
      • Good long-term reliability
      • No streaming, no video editing, no productivity workloads.
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • Canada
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • I’m planning to run dual OLED monitors (not included in the budget), so the PC needs to comfortably support that setup. Still not decided between 1440p or 4K for my usage.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • 3500$CAN - 5000$CAN.
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • Both.
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • Shared office so ideally low. The case that I aiming for now is Fractal North White XL.
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • White or White/Walnut
  • Any other specific needs?

A few words...

Hello everyone,

I made a few previous posts, read through a lot of the replies, did more research, compared suggestions, & tried to compile everything into one cleaner post so people can hopefully point me in the right direction.
I’ve finally saved enough money to buy my dream gaming PC, & I really want to make the smartest decision possible before spending this kind of money.
I’m not amazing with upgrading / swapping parts later, so I’d rather buy something strong now that lasts several years. I also assume good WiFi & decent onboard audio quality matter, since I listen to a lot of music.

What I’ve found so far (from Reddit + research)...

CPU

Most common recommendation:

  • AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D

Seems like everyone agrees this is one of the best gaming CPUs available, especially for MMOs.

CPU Cooler

Suggestions I received:

  • ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360 A-RGB
  • Thermalright Aqua Elite V3

Motherboards

Most suggested:

  • Gigabyte B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ICE
  • ASUS ROG STRIX X870-A Gaming WiFi
  • MSI MPG X870E CARBON WIFI

RAM

I’ve seen all of these suggested:

  • 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
  • 32GB DDR5-6400 CL32
  • 64GB DDR5
  • Even 128GB DDR5

This is one area where advice seems all over the place.

Storage

Suggestions:

  • WD Black SN850X 2TB
  • Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB
  • Samsung 990 Pro 4TB
  • Some people suggested dual-drive setups

GPU

Most common suggestions:

  • RTX 5070 Ti
  • RTX 5080

Power Supply

Suggested:

  • MSI MAG A850GL
  • Corsair RM1000x Shift
  • 1000W+ options

My Questions

  1. If you had my budget, what exact build would you make today?
  2. Is the 9800X3D still the clear best choice for my use case?
  3. RTX 5070 Ti vs 5080 for dual OLED gaming long-term?
  4. Is 32GB enough, or should I go 64GB since I keep PCs for years?
  5. Best storage setup for someone with a large game library?
  6. Any bad picks above I should avoid?
  7. Any changes you’d make specifically because I play MMOs?

I really appreciate everyone who helped on the previous posts. I don’t have many tech people around me in real life, so Reddit has honestly been my best source of guidance here.

Thank you again for helping me spend my hard-earned money responsibly... or irresponsibly, depending on the GPU you recommend.

[Suggestion] Saved up for my dream gaming PC ($3500–$5000+ CAD budget) – Need advice before I buy

Hello everyone,

I’ve finally saved enough money on the side to treat myself to a beautiful gaming PC, so I’m coming to the experts before making the jump. My budget is around $3500 CAD, but I could go up to $5000 CAD or a bit more if it truly means getting something that matches what I’m looking for, stays strong for years, & still feels high-end down the road.

Important note: I mean a desktop PC, not a laptop.

Ideally, I’m looking for a pre-built. I’m a little traumatized by building one myself in the past. I did it once... & somehow forgot the Wi-Fi card & the microphone card. Yes, yes... now I know my limits. So if a custom build is really a huge difference in value for the money, I’m open to it. But ideally, pre-built.

What I’m looking for:

  • A very strong gaming PC;
  • Mainly for MMOs like FFXIV, WoW, etc;
  • Modded games from time to time;
  • New generation games as well;
  • Able to run everything on max settings;
  • Great support for an OLED monitor (I’d love to invest in one next);
  • Something that feels premium & future-proof;

I don’t stream, I don’t do video editing, I don’t need workstation stuff, none of that. This would be almost entirely for gaming... & occasionally watching videos / movies.

Aesthetics matter too:

I’d really love a white case, or white + walnut / wood tones. Clean, elegant, premium vibe. For the colors, something like Fractal North White or FRACTAL DESIGN Terra Silver, to give you an idea. I am not sure about the design still.

I had looked at the Alienware Aurora Gaming Desktop ACT1250, but I’m honestly not expert enough to understand all the different versions on the site. I also read that swapping the case / customizing later can be annoying with Alienware.

So if you know a machine that already comes with a case in that style, or one that can be easily swapped later, that would be amazing. Unfortunately, I don’t really have tech-savvy friends around me to guide me on this, & I genuinely want to use the money I worked hard to save on a high-end machine that is truly worth it & satisfies my gamer soul.

Thank you so much for any help, advice, recommendations, or reality checks.
