Sifu Bill Owens taught generations of kids in Oakland Ca martial arts. Not just martial arts though. He taught discipline, pride, honor and community. His Kwoon welcomed this little white boy in 1980. He was my mentor. He has a calmness about him that is unmatched. He was also one of the very first practitioners of Capoeira in the SF Bay Area. That one got me because this melanated lacking guy had no rhythm when I was a young man.
