Hi everyone, I work in a big MNC company and we had a hiring spree recently. Many people got hired in that spree but most of them got hired because they were related to our current employees or are either friend , relative or close to our hiring manager I was their when interview was happening and i was feeling sad and guilty of people who were giving honest interviews and were genuinely trying even though in my mind I already knew who's going to get hired. I see many people use LinkedIn, naukri.com and other sites and apply thousands of jobs hoping someone will answer them but they forget two important points

1> Its not about how many jobs you apply its about how you convince interviewer that you are actually worthy of the interview

2> Earlier you used to compete with people of your level for the job. now you are competing with laid offs from big companies + people who are desperate for backup plan + + people who want to switch jobs + people of your level + freshers and below your level of competition.

Problem is not that you cant apply the job, problem is how do you convince them that you are genuine when literally everything is made-up and can be bought or can be done with AI.

  • Your cover letter? AI can write it , trust me we don't even read it
  • Your Leetcode? chatgpt can give you better answers than your code.
  • Your Linkedin account? there are professional services available which can handle your Linkedin to give polished experience to employers, .
  • Your experience? there are lots of companies who will give you genuine and verifiable work experience ( someone will work in a company in place of you. You will have the experience, that person will have your salary and you have to pay the company and middle men's who made it all happen.
  • According to my experience, exploitive internships with little to nothing to learn is common phenomenon is everywhere as well.

So my point is don't focus on how many jobs you can apply focus on how to convince employer that you are worthy and you are different because to be frank nowadays nobody will give you 50 LPA INR or 200 -300 K USD jobs just because you can write shity boilerplate code which AI can write themselves, you need to prove you are a genuine talent and not another mediocre bullshitter.
