Got rejected from 6 companies silently, then found out why (resume was the culprit)

Okay so this is a bit embarrassing to share but maybe it'll help someone.

I was applying everywhere for the past 2 months — startups, MNCs, even some decent-paying internships. Sending 10-15 applications a week. Getting ghosted on almost all of them. One or two rejections after a HR round, nothing beyond that.

I genuinely thought the market was just bad. You know how everyone says "it's not you, it's the market"? I believed that.

Then a friend pointed out something — he asked me if I had ever actually checked whether my resume is ATS-compatible. I said yes obviously (I used a clean Word template lol). He showed me how most companies in India literally never see your resume as a human first — it goes through an ATS filter, gets scored, and if you're below a threshold you just... disappear.

I went and checked my resume against a job description I had applied to. The keyword overlap was embarrassingly low. Like I had the skills, just not the words they were scanning for. A software tool called BluffHR does this — you upload your CV and the JD together and it runs around 20 different checks in like 30 seconds. ATS score, missing keywords, interview prep questions tailored to the role, stuff like that.

Within a week of tweaking my resume based on the gaps it showed, I started actually getting calls.

Not saying it's magic. The interviews still need you to perform. But I genuinely did not know my resume was losing me before I even got a chance to speak.

If you're in that silent rejection loop, maybe check your resume before assuming the market hates you. It might just be an ATS thing.

Hi r/ITjobsinindia ,

Today I launched ApplyNest — a tool that automatically finds internships and jobs for Indian students and emails them every morning.

The problem it solves: students spend 2-3 hours daily manually checking Internshala, LinkedIn, company websites. They still miss deadlines. I was one of them.

The product: scans 10+ portals + 70+ company career pages nightly. Sends one personalised email at 7 AM. Free.

It's live as of today. Getting the first real users now.

Would appreciate any feedback.

Java Developer Market (2–4 YOE) – Pune/Mumbai/Ahmedabad Situation?

Hey everyone,

I’m a Java developer with around 2–4 years of experience and wanted to understand the current job market situation.

Has anyone here recently switched or joined a new job as a Java developer in Pune, Mumbai, or Ahmedabad?

  • How is the hiring trend right now?
  • Are companies actively hiring or is it slow?
  • What kind of salary range are you seeing?
  • Which skills are in demand currently (Spring Boot, Microservices, etc.)?

I’ve been giving interviews at multiple places but not getting selected anywhere so far. Also, on LinkedIn, I’m seeing many people who got laid off and are still struggling to find jobs. That’s making me wonder what the actual ground reality is right now.

Just trying to understand if it’s a broader market issue or if I need to improve in specific areas.

Any insights or recent experiences would really help.

Thanks!

Need honest opinion about Fractal analytics

Hi, I’m an Azure Data Engineer with 8 years of experience and have cleared two technical rounds at Fractal Analytics.

I would like to understand the nature of projects at Fractal—are they typically short term, and is there good exposure to Azure based data engineering work and clients?

I’m also interested in knowing about the bench policy, work life balance, and wfh flexibility, as these are important factors for me alongside learning opportunities, especially in the GenAI space.

Additionally, could you provide insights on compensation expectations for someone with my experience, including salary range, hikes, and bonus structure?

I have moved to delhi and now struggling to find a job.

I moved back to my parents' house after completing my B.Tech in CSE from Chandigarh in 2025. I started my job hunt in January, but it’s been four months and I haven't received any decent offers yet. I have a solid foundation in Java, SQL, and Android development, along with a good understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, Jira, etc. I have worked on around 10 apps and 2 games, and I co-wrote a research paper that has received a letter of acceptance. Still, I’m not getting accepted anywhere. Idon’t know what companies want more than this.

If your company is hiring freshers, please let me know in my DMs!

I built an open-source extension to track job applications

I built this open-source Chrome extension to help you keep a much better track of your job applications. I don't have the funds for a Google Developer account yet to put it on the Web Store (just started my first job), so you have to install it using Developer Mode [which should be a breeze if you're applying for tech jobs anyway...] Give it a try, let me know if you have any feedback, and happy job hunting!

Got laid off after 4 months. 6 years in marketing and trying not to panic.

I got laid off recently, and I’ll be honest, it’s messing with my head a bit.

I’ve been working since 2019, started as a content writer, and over the years I didn’t stick to just writing.

I kept taking on more, sometimes by choice, sometimes because no one else was doing it.

In one of my previous roles (electrical manufacturing company), I ended up handling almost the entire marketing side, content, ads, coordinating sales, website, everything. Over \~2 years, we generated around ₹2.5 CR in revenue, and I was directly involved in the strategy + execution behind that.

Also worked closely with the in-house sales team on how leads should be handled.

Content-wise, I’ve done pretty much everything - blogs, website pages, ad copies (Meta + Google), newsletters, brochures, GMB posts.

In my last role (US-based, remote), even though it was just \~4 months, my work shifted more towards managing agencies and tracking performance.

I got hands-on with Google Search Console and started understanding GA4 better.

My job was to make sure content, SEO, backlinks, all of it was actually aligned and moving somewhere.

From what I saw, clicks and impressions were improving on GSC.

(If I’m being honest, I think the layoff was more about business issues than performance, there were conversations about their sales flow being broken and deals not closing in the last 1-2 months, so it felt like a cost-cutting decision.)

Still sucks though.

Right now, the stress is real. I have financial responsibilities, and losing a job like this shakes your confidence a bit.

My last salary was ₹9 LPA, and I’m looking for something in a similar range.

I don’t have an MBA or a formal marketing degree.

But I do know how to:

take ownership of marketing end-to-end

manage people/agencies (not my first time doing it)

connect marketing efforts to actual leads/revenue

and step in wherever things are stuck

I can start working almost immediately.

Open to full-time, freelance, contract, anything at this point.

If anyone is hiring or knows someone who is, I’d really appreciate it.

Happy to share more details or past work over DM.

Thanks for reading. 🙏

Require guidance, on the verge of quitting.

I am a 2025 Computer Engineering graduate, and it's been 11 months and I haven't got any jobs. Let me tell you I have done everything, reached out to recruiters, senior developers, and attended offline meetups. And it's not that I have just sat and done nothing during this duration of 11 months, I constantly upskilled myself and even have a daily goal of completing either one LC problem, Hackerrank problem, Kaggle competition( if possible to solve in one day) and also learned Generative AI theoretically as well as practically through courses, forums, blogs etc. Currently I am looking for a job in the domain of SDE, AI, ML, DS, DA. Also, I have also interviewed for Google for Data Analytics Apprenticeship Program made it till team matching but wasn't able to fit for any team, also reached the last round of Swiggy for Data Scientist- 1 position but didn't make it. And have also interviewed in Intuit for the Software Engineer-1 role but lack of shell scripting knowledge didn't make it. And have also developed 3 projects which are production grade as I got it tested by a friend who works as a Tester. Reached out to relatives who are in a nice position but we all know toxic culture in a family didn't want anyone to grow. And I am not saying I am quitting the problem is that some of my friends whose projects I have built, didn't even know to initialise an environment are getting jobs and here I am stuck in a cycle. And also I tailor my resume according to the job's requirement. And also have 11 months of internship experience at 2 organisations. And the reason I am losing motivation is that I also attempted GATE but didn't get the marks that would qualify me for a good college and I don't want to repeat the mistake of getting into tier-3 or less than that college. Everyday I view my parents smiling through disguise and they have full belief that I will procure a good job someday but how do I explain it to them? and everyday they ask me are there any reply back from any companies how do I tell them rejection is the only reply I am getting? they like to motivate me by saying there must be something good in your destiny that's the reason it's taking time. And everyday I just question one thing am I even employable? And this is not a post for gathering vague guidance I am genuinely on the verge of quitting job hunting and getting into as a Rapido driver. Because it's hard looking at my parents everyday looking at me with hopes in their eyes.

Cloud Domains- Fresher

Hi, I am 21F from a tier- 3 college. About to graduate( expected May/June). Initially i wanted to get into Cloud Domains( Cloud Support, Cloud Enginner/SRE). But since i started applying, all i notice is that Cloud aren't meant for freshers.

Since then I have been trying my hands on Backend/Software Role( that also focus on Cloud). Everything feels messed up here. And i feel like I am the only one suffering and feel dumb abt it.

Projects- Ai Resume Builder with Feedback. (Working on it)

Cgpa- 7.4( as of 7th sem).

What do you guys think, should I primarily focus on Java/Python. What tech skills are mandatory to enter the Corporate Works as of 2026?

I just wanna get placed before my actual Graduation.

Suggestions/ advises/ improvements. Really looking for it!

Thank you!

Ghosting candidates is not okay

I don’t get why this happens, especially with freshers. Why ghost candidates after the entire interview process? HR is not giving any responses to DMs Or not picking up calls. At least give feedback. Rejection is fine—ghosting isn’t.
