is there such thing as a species of corys that are the most hardiest?

i’ve been shooting outside mainly, with no subjects, but i want to start doing portrait photography. i think that is where my niche is and i have no knowledge on how to get people willing to help me build a portfolio, basically i want a photography mentor. i don’t have many family, nor friends so, if anyone has any advice or would like to share their experiences of when they first started i would love that and appreciate it so much. i want to make this into a career over time.
