[M4F] The Wizard's New Apprentice in a Small Town

Wizard's New Apprentice

He may be known as Salik the Blind Visionary in the Annals of Magic Practitioners to the locals he is called Salik the Mad. His small shop tucked between two dominating buildings off the bustling market square is seldom open and often a mess. With his attitude dissuading many from seeking his council even in the dire times. However, times are desperate as to become a wizard at the grand College of Esoterica one must first be an apprentice, and with the other wizards taken your choices were limited. To even be able to cast a spell one must be sanctioned under the college as an apprentice lest they be accused of being a Outcast Mage by the Edicts of Loe (which determines other strange crimes of magical practice). So, after saving for as long as possible, you spent what money you had left on securing a place onboard a caravan to the town of Blackrock Cove. A journey more eventful than you would have liked but you eventually reached the dark stone walls of the town and disembark the packed cart. Soon after the voice of an aggravated, rather wealthy appearing woman erupts at the news from the caravan master that some luggage was lost.

I hope this little intro caught your eye and gave some idea of what I am looking for but to clarify a. I am looking for an RP in which a hopeful wizard moves to a small town to apprentice to a rather eccentric wizard. With a good mix of slice of life and plot. Perhaps with some simple mechanics like tracking money loosely to add to the daily life but that is not necessary.

Excited to hear from you to discuss some ideas.

[M4F] Zombie Apocalypse RP

Playing through a number of the Resident Evil games recently and watching some zombie films I have had the itch to do a zombie based RP. Something which begins prior to the outbreak that could include more of a build up to some degree before the world falls apart as it usual does in such scenarios. One perspective I though would be fun is starting from the perspective of environmental activists that try to sabotage the usual shady corporation inadvertently causing the outbreak. Perhaps we could explore some typical survivors caught up in the chaos, or workers of the corporation that created the virus. These are just some ideas but I am excited to explore different ideas with you.

In terms of me as a player I like to write 2-3 paragraphs per response and try to write a few responses per day, but realise life can get busy. Usually I prefer to take more of a GM role but happy to explore a collaborative write approach if you prefer.

Hope to hear from you so we can get something going.

If you are someone who enjoys adding mechanics or using some sort of simple game system then that can definitely be discussed as well though it is not necessary.

[Online][CoC] Mysteries of the small town Rockport-Upon-Pool (1-on-1 PBP game)

Once a widely visited tourist destination for the more well to do as a beach destination Rockport-Upon-Pool is more of a shell of a more prosperous past. Some beachgoers try to catch a few last days of sun amongst weather battered and dilapidated piers as the earlier nights of autumn fast approach. Black Cove beach is cast in shadow by the prestigeous Littlewood Academy which dominated the hillside backing onto the old forest which surrounds the town. Only a night prior was the serene location disturbed by officers of the law after the sudden disappearance of a student.

Cobbled streets twist and turn through the town lit by faint lamps casting long shadows. Barley a curtain rustling at night lest a citizen catch glimpse of some terrible thing which fuels the rumours of locals. Save for an often flooded road leading South the ferry, which now visits twice a week through rocky waters, serves as the main lifeline to the outside world. Rockport-Upon-Pool is one of those towns one imagines when reading a work of the macabre but what mysteries actually lurk within its shadows?

////////////

Hey, hope this little intro caught your attention. I have been RPing for some time though predominantly as a DM for DnD and want to try something a bit different. After reading some Lovecraft and weird tales again I have the inkling for something spooky, especially as a fan of spooky stuff overall. For my first attempt at the CoC rules I wish to do a PBP 1-on-1 game.

The particular plot I had in mind would focus on an investigator travelling to this town after a string of disappearances or could focus on a local (this being your character). If you would feel more comfortable I am happy to play a DMPC. With this being a 1-on-1 game I am open to including plenty more player by in as to the story and where this goes.

If this interests you feel free to reach out.

[M4F] Investigating the Happenings of a Secluded Town (Lovecraft/Resident Evil Inspired Spooky/Gothic RP)

After reading some Lovecraft and weird tales again I have the inkling for something spooky, especially as a fan of spooky stuff overall.

So I am looking for someone like minded to get something fun going. I do not really care for playing one character but if you wish to focus on one character that works for me. The particular direction we take this is pretty open. It could focus on an investigator travelling to this town after a string of disappearances or could focus on a local. Perhaps the local church is up to something strange while strange creatures haunt the dense woods, lake, and shadows.

Equally this could be set at some time period within the real world (however ambiguous) or a more fantastical world of our own making.

If this interests you feel free to reach out. Discord is preferred but we can discuss that once we discuss some basic ideas and ensure we want something similar.

Drifting lazily down the serpentine Pink River there is little cover between the beating sun and the barge on which you find yourself. Aside from the occasional strange burst of storming weather all has been peaceful on your journey to River Watch Keep, the gate town to the empire. Dense jungle climbs steep mountains either side of the wide river. Just peaking over the canopy a pagoda reaches high adorned with gargoyles.

The reason for your journey is your own. Whether that is to find your way to the Prismarine Academy, carry grave news to the cities Warden, or merely seek refuge from the tide of war and rumours of demons. Now, however, the air is filled with the gentle strumming of a guitar by a bard as he reclines on a pile of boxes sunbathing, a green sarong around his waste. Meanwhile a woman swings her feet over the side of the holding a fishing pole. A flowery cheongsam fits her body when a sudden knock of the barge causes a wooden sandal to fall from her foot. Yet a stiff breeze blows spelling a change of fortune for those on board.

Hope that little intro peaked your interest. I am looking for 1-3 players interested in a PBP game. I tend to run a game with a good mix of RP, exploration, and combat liking to give players options and scenarios to act as they wish. As such the reason for you heading to this city is tied to the character.

The setting is one of my homebrew. I have around a decade of DMing experience for both in person and PBP games so can teach new players if you wish. Happy to answer anymore questions you have.

This will be played on Discord using the 2024 rules.

Since it is a PBP game there is no specific game time as people reply when they can. Though I do prefer at least a few replies per day. But I understand people can be busy.

There is no specific reply length I am looking for. Especially with different scenes requiring different lengths. But effort is needed per response.
