My partner and I are getting married later this year and we recently got engaged, so we’re super excited. From the beginning, we both imagined something simple, an elopement-style wedding with a cute photoshoot and just our best man and maid of honor there.

We shared the idea with our parents, but naturally they’d love to be involved and have a small celebration after the ceremony. Once we started counting immediate family members alone, it quickly became 20+ people, and now we’re unsure what we actually want.

I’m more introverted, and I also worry our families won’t really get along, which makes me feel like we’d spend the whole day entertaining everyone instead of enjoying the moment ourselves. At the same time, we do love our families and part of us would genuinely want them there.

We keep going back and forth and can’t decide what to do, especially since we don’t have much time to figure it out. Did anyone else struggle with this? Any advice or experiences would really help.
