Meet Lavender, Violet, Delphinium (Phinie for short) and Bluebell (Blue). We have 4 more coming next week; I’m hoping the 1 week age gap won’t be too much.
My kiddo wanted to name the Lavender Orpingtons after purple flowers so we decided to go with all botanical names for this season’s chicks.
I love watching their little personalities develop.
First test of my little solar fountain pump seems successful. I plan to put some sponge and filter floss in the bowls to give a little extra filtration.
It’s still too cold at night for plants in my area but I’m impatient and I wanted to get a jump start on building up some beneficial bacteria. My substrate is a base of organic soil with a layer of sand over it and capped off with small aquarium pebbles.
My wood is floating still so I have it weighted down with stones. Hopefully all the hardscape will be hidden by plants. And I still want to find someone local to get medaka from. To be continued
