What else did we get wrong?

In electricity, the flow of current is defined opposite of the direction of electron flow. Back in the day, they didn't know so a rule was made. They guessed wrong and, as a result, electrons flow reversed from defined current flow.

What else is backwards but accepted because it's too hard to change?

Given what we know, is a "force field" possible?

By "force field" I mean what we see in movies. Can I project a wall of energy that acts like a solid surface to contain atmosphere or reject missiles?

Does the theory allow this with enough energy or mathematics or is it just "get out the bricks and mortar" if you want a wall?

Because we can't trust you, that's why.

I can't send it directly to her so I'm posting it here...

No, you can't stay at your dead grandmother's house. I know you're almost homeless but that's your own fault. You had a place to stay with your other grandmother but you got in a fight with her and left. Your anger and your ego got the best of you and this is the consequence.

Why? Because we don't trust you. We don't trust that you won't bring your loser boyfriend.

You broke up? Yeah, maybe. We remember the prior boyfriend that came and went when you got lonely and got back together and then you'd fight & kick him again. By the way, quality guys don't have street names like "Wookie" and "Noodle".

Guess what, we know about the prostitution, too. Gonna start doing in-call on your grandmother's bed?

Lastly, the house will be up for sale in a month or so. Yeah, we think we'd end up formally evicting you and we don't want the hassle.

So, no. Sorry.

Wave/Particle duality? Just models or real behavior?

I'm not arguing single-slit versus double-slit results. I've seen the behavior with my own eyes and understand that in this case it "seems" like waves and in the other it "seems" like particles.

However, I'm of the opinion that there's one truth, we may not know what it is yet but, in the end, there's only one reality. There IS a grand unified theory to be discovered or a theory of everything. We're just not there yet.

So, particles "behaving" as waves or material lumps, to me, seems counter to this. Either particle is a wave or a material lump or, really, it's option C, none of the above.

My problem is that the wave seems to "choose" and, of course, there's nothing there to make a choice.

So, is wave/particle duality just a mathematics trick? Is the real answer, "C"?

OK, Jonesians, how important is sэx?

NSFW??

>!My wife and I are near 60 (she's younger and I'm older) and our sex life is slim. At my age (& blood pressure) pharmaceuticals are sometimes involved. Still, it's an occasional treat a couple times per month.!<

>!Still, I'm not upset at that. My wife is my companion & partner and the fact that sex is rare(-ish) and will, likely, one day stop completely, doesn't bother me. The partnership & companionship are enough.!<

So, piecing together a bunch of stuff, I want to mentally model space-time as four axes all meeting at right angles (which, of course, requires a 4th dimension).

The other rule seems to be that you must keep moving in this 4-space AND you're moving at "c" on a vector described by those coordinates. Your vector amplitude is "c" so if ΔX, ΔY, & ΔZ are zero, you're cooking along on the time axis at "c". If the Δ's are non-zero, then you're no longer at "c" on the time axis and that's what time dilation is.

So, right?

If so, why must I move in 4-space at "c"? Why can't I just stop?

The Hamilton Beach stand mixer is a fraction of the cost of a Kitchen Aid one. 300W motor.

Anybody got one & what do you think?

I was thinking about cross-addiction since I'm getting clean from alcohol. I read something on another forum about gambling and was thinking about that.

Theoretically, if you're deep in debt due to a gambling addiction, you're just one "win" from getting clear of the debt. You can be "cured" of the pain with just one win.

For me, with alcohol, the only fix is giving it up. For a gambling addict, the fix may be just one more play.

Is that unique in the addiction realm? Is that one of the reasons gambling addicts have a hard time quitting?
