honestly worth skimming through some of them really stand out 👀

if you’ve been around thailand for a bit you’ve probably heard people talk about miss grand thailand

it’s basically a national pageant where girls from each province show up and represent their area, and it’s way bigger here than most people expect

like it’s not just a small beauty contest. every year it pulls a ton of attention online and offline, people actually follow it, argue about results, pick favorites and all that

the contestants go pretty hard too. outfits, performances, social media presence, everything is part of it

and yeah if you win you pretty much blow up overnight. a lot of them go straight into tv, modeling, influencer stuff, you start seeing them everywhere

even if you’re not into pageants it’s kinda interesting to watch once just to see how seriously it’s taken here

below are the final winners from the competition

so the winner ended up being the girl representing chonburi where pattaya is

she’s been blowing up online lately not just because she won but because during her speech her dental piece popped out mid talk and it ended up making headlines everywhere lol

kinda wild moment but also made her even more memorable

so yeah who’s your pick out of the lineup bros 👀

Naklua Seafood Market guide for seafood loving bros

hey bros

thought i'd put together a quick guide to naklua lanpho seafood market if you’re into fresh seafood

prices have definitely gone up lately
with inflation and more tourists coming in, it’s not really the super cheap hidden gem it used to be

but still
it’s one of the few places in pattaya where you can really feel that raw seafood market vibe
and get your stuff cooked on the spot

and don’t worry too much about it being a 'market'
the best part here is the whole buy + cook system lol

step 1 (buy)
pick whatever you want in the market area
lobster, shrimp, crab, shellfish, fish, etc.
they weigh it and you can try to bargain a bit before buying

step 2 (cook)
take your seafood to one of the small restaurants around the market
pay a cooking fee per kg
and choose how you want it cooked (grill, steam, etc.)

https://preview.redd.it/lcywsrefh7tg1.png?width=1596&format=png&auto=webp&s=cd4c74e4666d80ffe716ae23c0b57f680c8fd6a9

it’ll probably be under 200 baht from pattaya walking street if you take grab or bolt

it’s on the naklua songthaew route
so it’s a bit far but actually pretty easy to get to

if you’re staying around second road
just hop on a second road songthaew
ride up to dolphin circle
then switch to a naklua one from there

honestly
taking a songthaew instead of a taxi is a bit less comfortable
but way more 'real pattaya' vibe lol

you can eat at one of the restaurants with aircon
or take your seafood and walk into the park area inside
and eat by the seaside

that whole flow is kinda part of the experience too

https://preview.redd.it/ljd0373hh7tg1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f539f4f8f44ad404a8c28100b0c72608f7ab1f4e

the market is officially open from around 6am to 6pm

but a lot of vendors start packing up as early as 4pm
so it’s better to go earlier if you can

also the floor can get pretty wet and slippery
so wear something comfortable with good grip

https://preview.redd.it/z5uk7qqlh7tg1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=58deffc48ac96f462e1b2b56bcc315cbcbdaa449

this is the entrance

it’s a narrow alley but packed with people everywhere

just looking at it kinda feels a bit chaotic lol

but i guess that’s part of the whole seafood market vibe

it looks tight but somehow everyone manages to move around just fine

https://preview.redd.it/ynzqgl5qh7tg1.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=570b685563c05a0d99a92ae6f31aee55c7c43a17

back in the day
lanpho market used to be a place where locals and a few tourists could enjoy fresh seafood at really cheap prices

now prices have gone up quite a bit overall
cooking fees are higher too
and if you eat at a restaurant, you’ll pay extra on top

still
it’s definitely worth checking out for the seafood market vibe

if i had to give a tip

look for a local thai auntie around mid age
seriously lol

don’t follow other tourists
look for someone who clearly came with family or just doing groceries

and just follow her

she’ll probably lead you to the good value spots without even knowing it lol

or

you can try going late and aim for closing time deals
and just bargain hard

prices are usually written
but it’s kinda case by case
and yeah, not always in our favor as foreigners lol

just my little way of picking decent stalls among a lot of options

honestly though
most places feel pretty similar price wise anyway

you’ll see everything
crayfish, shrimp, tiger prawns, squid, shellfish, scallops, blue crab, mud crab and more

so many options lol

once you’re done buying
you’ll find a bunch of small restaurants around the market

just take your seafood there
pay a cooking fee
and they’ll cook it for you right away

you can eat there or take it to go
(and yeah, they sell alcohol too)

there are so many of these places around
you really can’t miss them

have fun out there bros

mango sticky rice

etc

watermelon juice

super refreshing, especially in the heat

coconut

coconut water or coconut juice, you’ll see it everywhere

what do you guys think bros?

when you go to thai night markets

you’ll also see stuff like seafood baskets or steak and ribs

but honestly

this is more like the “core” street food i personally expect at a night market

nothing super fancy or mind blowing

but somehow you keep thinking about it

and when you actually eat it

it just hits different lol

street food here is way more diverse than people expect

and there’s seriously a ton of good stuff to try
