Here is a more detailed guide on how to get through this device, I've highlighted pictures of each stage:

  1. Remove the backplate, after unscrewing the 6 screws there are 6 clips. 1 Clip located in the middle at the top and bottom of the device and 2 along either side.
  2. Remove the battery, the socket is located under the metal clip.
  3. Remove the 4 screws located underneath the battery to free the battery tray, when lifting this up be gentle as there is a bit of sticky tape holding it in place that comes up with gentle prying (highlighted red).
  4. Remove all screws from the analogue sticks, speakers and the the 4 visible ones on the control board.
  5. Remove the ribbon cable from the control board (this can be disconnected at both sides to make it even easier to lift the panel out).
  6. Remove the final 2 screws at the top of the control board (highlighted red).
  7. Gently peel the metal tape located in the middle off the control board (don't peel off the main board) to fully free the board and lift out to reveal the face for modding.
