running ads for our store and the comment sections have turned into a mess. crypto bros, fake "we sell it cheaper, DM us" accounts impersonating the brand, the spaced-out profanity that gets past the filter. I lost a sale last week because a customer DM'd asking why we never replied, turns out their question was buried under 200 spam comments.
Native FB keyword filter helps but I feel like i'm playing whack-a-mole adding new variations every week. profanity filter on Strong catches some but misses the obvious stuff like "f u c k".
Couple things i'm trying to figure out:
- is anyone actually keeping up with this manually or have you all given up and just let the comment sections rot
- what's on your keyword block list that you'd say is non-obvious
- do hidden comments actually hurt ad performance or is that a myth, i've heard both
- for those running ads in multiple languages, how are you handling spam in languages you don't speak
mostly just want to know if everyone else is dealing with the same thing or if i'm doing something wrong on my end
