I have a small room of 299cm by 198cm and I want a dual desk setup for me any my partner. I'm thinking of a desk of 260cm by 75cm, but I am in so much doubt what to use as a frame. I am scared for a lot of wobble with such a large desk, but I also need the space as we will have a monitor arm, two 27 inch monitors, I'll also have my PC on the desk and so on. I'm also not sure if so much overhang will be a problem and if my legs won't touch the legs of the frame as I have yet to find a frame that is longer than 190cm or 200cm wide.

What should I do? Please help as I have a lot of decision fatigue.

The image in this post is created by AI, but it's a little bit or almost exactly what I'm going for.

As you can see it will use 2 panels/28mm walnut wood 145cm by 75 cm slabs that I will buy from a hardware store. The rest is 2 Alex cabinets in dark gray color and the Olov or Adils legs. I only have 2 questions about this.

Will this desk be sturdy enough and will it sag over time with a monitor arm, two 27 inch monitors and a gaming pc in the right corner? I heard IKEA legs can be wobbly and I'm scared to just go for it.

And what are those small things or little legs in between the Alex cabinet and the wooden slab? I've seen them before on reddit posts.

I need some help with an office/gaming room I am trying to create in my home. The room itself is quite small, being about 300 cm x 198 cm. The image shows the room I'm dealing with.

Right now I have a 160 cm x 80 cm desk and a 100 cm x 60 cm desk next to each other along the 300 cm wall.

For my new interior, I was thinking of this awkward desk size of 145 cm x 75 cm. Two of them directly next to each other along the 300 cm wall. This leaves room for 5 cm behind the desk and 5 cm on both ends between the left wall and the desk and the right wall and the desk.

A few notes and questions:

  1. Are these desk measurement good to work with in this specific room? I thought about depths of 60 cm or below 75 cm in general, but I do really like my leg room and space. The reason I'm not doing 80 is I possible want a monitor arm and with the door in the way, I don't think I have the room for a depth of 80 cm. I'm not sure if 75 cm is even too much. And two desks of 145 cm will sum up to 290 cm, which is just 10 cm under the total room size. Is this too tight or plenty? The goal is 2 gaming setups and I wonder if 145 cm width is sufficient for a monitor arm with 2 monitors and a PC that I will place ON TOP of the desk in the corners.
  2. I will get either two oak or two walnut slabs of 28mm thick from this local hardware store, but I am really looking for a good way of support for these. I preferably want two cabinets, one at the utmost left support a part of the left desk and one at the utmost right support the right desk. Then I also need 2 or 4 legs for the middle. I prefer 2 U-legs, 1 for each desk. I'm thinking of black metal U-legs. But the most I found are not adjustable in height. Also, I often have the problem where the black cabinet is not the same height as the U-leg I'm looking at. I've looked at Alex from IKEA, but it only sells in grey in my country and I'd really think that black would look better so I'm looking at alternatives. Do you have any advice or recommendations for support for the desk tops/slabs?
  3. Any other advice or recommendations or things I should think about before spending the money to remake my office/gaming room? (Thankfully I though of the monitor arm later, because first I was going for an 80 cm deep desk, which I think is simply impossible with a monitor arm, so maybe there's advice on what I'm forgetting to think about right now.)

Thank you very much in advance.
