Getting quoted approx 16K for horizontal and vertical drain line replacement + toilet flange with permits. Is that competitive ? Thought there was a post here which mentioned getting similar work done for 11K 6 months back

3b2bath 120 1150 sqfeet. Single story. Crawl space.

If you have a recommended plumber feel free to share. Thanks

FTHB here.
Do yall typically paint all rooms with same color or change it by home ?

Any recommendations for color ? I was thinking Benjamin Moore white dove

Hi all,
FTHB here renovating a ~1,500 sq ft home.

I’ve mentally shortlisted 3 colors I like but now I’m stuck on how to actually make the final call.
Questions:

  1. How do you go from “I like 3” → “this is the one”?

  2. What should I optimize for:
Matching cabinets (likely white / off-white)
Matching walls (leaning White Dove / warm white)
    Lighting (mostly 3000K recessed)

  3. Should I:
Pick lighter (safer, bigger space feel)?
Or medium warm oak (more modern, hides dirt better)?

Would really appreciate advice from people who went through this recently.

Hi all, I’m a first-time homebuyer moving into a ~1,500 sq ft single-family home. I’ve finalized Reolink as the camera brand and, after reading Reddit, I’m leaning toward PoE over WiFi for reliability.
I haven’t done any home wiring/security camera setup before, so I’d really appreciate guidance on:
Which Reolink PoE cameras should I buy?
Front door / porch
Driveway
Backyard
Side yards
Garage / entry points
How many cameras are usually enough for a 1,500 sq ft home?
I’m thinking maybe 4–6 cameras, but not sure.
Should I use a wide-angle camera like Duo for driveway/backyard?
NVR vs PoE switch + SD card
Should I buy a Reolink NVR kit or individual cameras + PoE switch?
Cat6 wiring
I’m planning to buy a 500 ft Monoprice Cat6 cable for PoE. Anything else I should buy?
Discounts
Reolink’s website seems close to full price right now. Do they run occasional sales or coupons? Is it better to wait for holidays / Amazon / Costco / refurbished?

Any beginner-friendly advice would be appreciated. I’m trying to do this right the first time.

I am creatively /artistically a noob. Bought a home recently which hasn’t been updated since 1950s so would like to update it. Thing is I don’t have a framework on how to think about it - what color floors should I get / lighting nuances. What other updates do I do now versus hold off ?

I am not looking to remodel a kitchen / bathroom rn though that’s definitely on the cards as I save some money.

Spoke with a bunch of people on Yelp etc but they get too detailed and charged upwards of 1K to even consult. Tried AI tools too but results been disappointing.

Does the community have any references or advice ? I am happy to pay. Just unsure of whether 1K+ make sense rn when I am not even sure what could be done realistically and within budget ?
