Lord knows I asked the world

To bring you to my arms

But it won’t mean a thing

If you don’t want me back

As long as I can’t look away

I’ll let you freeze my heart again and again

Kia ora koutou, I realise this is a very niche area, but thought I'd ask anyway. I’m a musician looking to learn Persian violin techniques (particularly ornamentation/embellishments), with the goal of covering a song.

I have a bit of a background/ultra basic working knowledge of Arabic maqams and techniques - but while there are some overlaps, dastgahs are generally new to me and so are the way the embellishments are played.

Any guidance (or conversation) would be greatly appreciated —whether that’s recommendations for teachers, any accessible/useful learning resources, general advice on where to start, or anything that might help point me in the right direction.

If you have experience with Persian music or know of any materials, resources, or approaches that could help me get a feel for the style/build a foundation, I'd love to hear from you. Thank you :)
