Japanese Sanyo Plus Series amplifier from the late 1970's

Sanyo Plus Series, model no.: PLUS A35

My dad bought it around 1979. He passed away soon after and it sat not working in a closet until around 2018 when I finally forked over around $160.00 (USD) to get it working again. The thing has monstrous power for its size. Currently running a pair of Klipsch bookshelf speakers which sound great, but eventually I would like to pair it with something much more capable.

Looking for opinions on this amp from those who have owned one..likes, dislikes

*initially posted in BudgetAudiophile, realized it's a better fit here

Could directional speakers work in a nightclub?

Ive always wondered why nightclubs dont use a combination of directional and traditional speakers to reduce the volume extremes and assault on everyones hearing..

It seems like directional speakers focused on the dancefloor, while the peripheral areas receive a clear but significantly lower volume, makes much more sense than just blasting the whole place at a deafening volume..

Imagine if the LS lived on through the ES...

Just a downsized version, but with a very similar interior.

What a wasted opportunity. The new ES could've been great..
