I'm a male author who recently finished writing a novel based on the life of a woman. The story is told in the first person. Therefore, it offers an intimate perspective on the character, making it feel like a memoir or autobiography. It is worth noting that the novel is based on real-life events, including the challenges and hardships a woman faced throughout her life. I received both permission and guidance from that person in shaping the character’s voice and emotional experience. However, many parts, of course, were told from my own point of view and life experience, which is why I consider it fiction. My two questions are:
Would you mention that somewhere in the book to avoid backlash?
Would you promote it as a story based on real-life events or fiction?
