Is it harder for senior cats to jump?
So my roommate has a senior cat, and since she occasionally babysits, we have a couple of baby gates up.
The cat’s name is Mia, and I’ve noticed that Mia will actively try to get help with the baby gates so that she doesn’t have to jump over.
Like just now is the perfect example, I was eating my breakfast and she was meowing at me for help. So I opened the baby gate for her.
She CAN jump over it, but she either won’t or can’t jump over the other one which is a lil higher.
My roommate also has an American Bulldog, who isn’t very well trained. So even without the kids here, the baby gates stay closed to keep the dog in the living room. She will get into the trash in the kitchen if she gets the chance.
She will also beg for food, so we keep her out of the hallway that leads to the bedrooms as well because she will grumble when my mom is eating in her room for food.
Anyway, back to the point, I’m wondering if there’s a reason why Mia asks for help instead of just jumping over it.
