Can I sand down peeling plywood or do I need to rip it out?

My 1940s house has board and batten siding. I’m replacing the rotten pieces and painting it all but am not sure what to do about this underside piece. It looks like 1/4” ply, flaking apart. Can I sand the remaining layer, prime, and paint? Or do I need to buy some 1/4” CDX? I just really don’t want to deal with scribing the side that sits against the stone. I’m sure it’ll take me forever.

Use fish stick to pull cat6 down or push it?

It's Friday so once again, I'm working on this project I've been avoiding all week: running cat6 down to the bottom of my board and batten siding to install a POE camera. I took some of the top trim off and revealed a 1/2" gap between the fascia and siding. I may cut some more siding off too, under the trim piece. Now that I have a fish sticks, would it be easier to push the cat6 down or pull it from the bottom? The siding, from exterior to interior is:

batten--5/8"siding--asphalt-impregnated particle board--rockwool--stud

Thanks again for all your help

I'm currently fishing cat6 through my 1940s 2 story home, via basement to the attic and beyond. I want to install a turret camera under the board and batten siding as shown. I've fished a cat6 cable from the attic out through the soffit alongside the 120v line for the floodlights. Ideally I'd run the cat6 behind the board siding but I'm not sure how to best do that. I believe the top plate is above the soffit but am not sure. I do know that there is 5/8 plywood board siding on top of asphalt impregnated particleboard sheathing, then rock wool. Thanks for your help.

I'm on the finishing stages of the Nelson ships ladder but am not sure how to best attach it to the deck. I want it to freely and slowly slide away from the swamp maple (supporting the other beam) as it grows and was thinking of just putting a single carriage bolt through the one stringer and the beam, but would like to hear other ideas, thanks.

I've fished cat6 from my basement to my attic via the masonry gable wall gap, with a 25' fishing tape. However, I can't seem to get the cable the last 4' through the soffit. I've been trying to use the same hole/path as the 120V line for the flood light. Am I using the wrong tools? I'm ready to rip the board and batten off but might have to anyway, since my plan is to put a POE camera underneath the siding. Thanks for your help

My 1940s home has 9 board and batten shutters - 1 little shutter for the front garage window and 8 for the front. Most of them have rot in addition to lead paint so I am going to rebuild all of them. I've never built so many copies of something and would like to get some insight on how to make this easier/faster. Basically my cut list is 32) 4' sections of 1x4 and 16) 14" 1X3. Any tips you think the average beginner may be oblivious to would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
