I'm in a flare and normally I use a cane for my hips and knees, but it is making my wrist hurt, and my shoulder and ribs are also having issues. I considered a rollator, but again, it puts strain on wrists, shoulders, and ribs. I have slipping rib syndrome as well and the slightest movement can make them slide out of place. My left shoulder subluxes and dislocates easily on a good day but currently my left shoulder and collar bone are both refusing to behave.

I'm not asking for medical advice, just personal experience with different aids if you have similar issues so that I have ideas I can take to my team. The doctors and PT's around me aren't very knowledgeable with EDS/hypermobility and I try to do my own research before I go in so that I can make the best choice.

May is Ehlers Danlos syndrome awareness month! Most readers probably already know this, but EDS is what makes Violet so fragile, and it comes with a lot of the other comorbidities that she experiences as well. I love that Rebecca gave those of us who are a little different some representation in a world where so many FMC's are basically superhuman and can survive almost anything without a scratch. I was feeling down because I have needed to use a cane after dislocating my hip in my sleep last week but I had to remind myself that needing support doesn't make you weak. It doesn't make you less. Just like Violet has her saddle, my cane is simply part of my gear.

I always go back to the quote: "Remember, it's only your body that's fragile. You are unbreakable."

If you're feeling down because you might need extra "gear" or might not relate to other characters, remember you're not alone. ❤️

I've been trying to find a case similar to these for a while. Every time I find one it seems to be shipped from overseas so I would have to pay tariffs, or it's for a paperwhite. I just want a normal outside with a clear case that magnetizes to the inside. Has anyone seen anything like this? I have found several for the Paperwhite but never a basic. At this point I feel like I will have to make my own to get what I want. I considered one of the 360° detachable ones but I worry about quality, and I kind of want to be able to hide whatever I decorate my clear case with when I'm out because I live in a very small town in the bible belt 😂
