Hey everyone
Group of 4 of us heading to Georgia for 8 days in mid-November. First time for all. We like food, wine, light hiking, history, and mountain views. Mid-range budget, not backpacking but not luxury either.
Current rough plan:
Day 1-2: Tbilisi Arrive late Day 1, explore Old Town, sulfur baths, Fabrika area, day trip to Mtskheta
Day 3-4: Kazbegi Drive Military Highway, Gergeti Trinity Church, short hikes, overnight in Stepantsminda
Day 5-6: Kakheti wine region Sighnaghi, Bodbe Monastery, wine tastings in Telavi, overnight in Sighnaghi
Day 7: Return to Tbilisi Cave town Uplistsikhe on the way back, last night in Tbilisi
Day 8: Fly out from Tbilisi
Already booked: Flights in/out of Tbilisi. Nothing else yet.
Questions:
- Is 2 days enough for Kazbegi in November, or will weather shut hikes down? Too rushed overall?
- Saw options like “Kazbegi + Gudauri + Ananuri day trip”, “Kakheti wine tour with 7 tastings”, and “Tbilisi walking tour + wine tasting”. Are these worth booking on GetYourGuide vs hiring a driver direct?
- Uplistsikhe vs Vardzia ? Is Sighnaghi too touristy now?
- Any village, restaurant, or winery on this route you loved that isn’t in every blog?
- How bad are the roads to Kazbegi? Will vineyards be dead or still worth visiting?
Not trying to see everything. Want 2-3 “wow” moments + time for long dinners + supra experience.
If you’ve done Georgia in 7-9 days, what would your “do this, skip that” list be?
Roast it. Thanks!
