  • FREE! May 16 - Beekeeping 101: Curious about keeping bees, but not sure where to start? Beekeeping 101 is a beginner-friendly class designed to introduce you to the fascinating and rewarding practice of beekeeping. This course covers the basics of honeybee biology, hive components, essential equipment, and seasonal hive management. Register.
  • FREE! May 16 - Low Flammability Garden Education Day and Workshop: An open garden day and workshop on how to create and build a home landscape design incorporating concepts of defensible space, important design principles and the important decisions homeowners should make to help protect their home from a wildland fire. Register.
  • May 21 - Water Bath Canning: Cowboy Candy: Discover proper technique and appropriate foods for water bath canning, using candied pickled peppers. Register.
  • May 23 - Ecology and Art series: Pigments and Plant Chemistry: Uncover the fascinating chemistry behind the colors of the plant world! Join Natural Resource Specialist and artist Erica for an illuminating workshop that explores the molecular magic of plant pigments—from chlorophylls and carotenoids to anthocyanins and betalains. Join Natural Resource Specialist and artist Erica Hample for a workshop that combines scientific observation with artistic documentation to deepen your connection with the landscape around you.   • FREE! June 17 - Gardening Through the Dog Days of Summer: Everything in the garden is in full gear! So are the bugs and weeds. We will focus on preventative and proactive measures to keep everyone happy. Water and fertilizing are important factors for the health and longevity of your hard work waking the garden up. Free Workshop: Beekeeping 101

Curious about keeping bees, but not sure where to start? Join us at CSU Extension Jefferson County for one of two free workshops this week!

"Beekeeping 101," taught by Jefferson County Colorado Master Gardeners and beekeepers, is a beginner-friendly class designed to introduce you to the fascinating and rewarding practice of beekeeping. This course covers the basics of honeybee biology, hive components, essential equipment, and seasonal hive management. You’ll learn how to safely work with bees, understand their behavior, prevent common problems, and support healthy, productive colonies. Whether you’re interested in backyard beekeeping, supporting pollinators, or harvesting your own honey, this class provides the knowledge and confidence you need to get started. Bonus! Tour the on-site Jeffco CMG Apiary.

Looking for seasonal outdoor youth educators, $4k-5k for a 5-week commitment!

ENOR (Eagle's Nest Owl's Roost) Environmental Discovery Camp seeks to hire highly qualified and trained professionals as seasonal education staff. We look for individuals who are dedicated to sharing their love of the outdoors with children, for the 2026 camp season. Earn $4k-5k for a 5-week commitment! 

All education staff must have 455 hours verifiable experience working with groups of four or more school-aged children or hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

2026 camp dates

  • June 8-12
  • June 15-19
  • June 22-26
  • July 6-10

ENOR has been getting kids outdoors for over 50 years, leading youth ages 4th through 8th grade through a different hike every day. We are a service of CSU Extension Jefferson County.

This position is based out of Golden, CO and pays $18/hr.
