New player building my collection - thank god I speak French

Like any recent player can attest, the game is great but knowing some of the most popular heroes are now forever out-of-print is a frustrating experience. Like everywhere else, if you are looking for any legacy content at their MSRP in my region you are out of luck, at least the English version.

My region (Quebec) still has a decent amount of French versions of legacy stuff, but I avoided it at first because I I had already "started" my collection in English as they tend to be a couple of bucks cheaper, and thought I could just wait for the "next printing". When I recently was made aware about the legacy-stuff decision, gotta admit my FOMO (that I usually am good at managing) hit me big time.

I was very reluctant on having my collection diluted between two languages, because it means learning twice as many keywords and it makes looking for cards online a hassle, as you know some cards by their translation, but I gave it a try. And honestly, it's not so bad. French is my first language but honestly? If you have even novice-level secondary language that has Legacy content you want in you region, you should give it a try.

For reference, here's what I was able to get this week in French at MSRP:

- Next Evolution box

- Gambit

- Rogue

- Thor

- Black Widow

- Storm

- X-23

- Hulk

All of those are heroes I really wanted (X-men being my favorite Marvel IP), and aside for a couple of names having a translation that I'd rather have avoided, it seems obvious now than between having the French version (for a reasonable price) vs the alternative of never getting them, I really feel comfortable with having given in to FOMO this time. There are other heroes I care less about, like Ant-Man and Guardians, that I saw around, but I'm trying to not go too crazy either.

Now, if I could only get my hand on Wolverine, Captain America, Doctor Strange and Cyclops, I'd be very very happy, and I'm still hunting at small LGS. The previous boxes would be amazing as well, but those are long gone.

Putting this here instead of just as a comment on this topic, as it might be interesting to others. Obviously this timeline is full of holes, and I fear that I might be a bit blurry on some homebrew twists thrown in the mix, if so I apologize. Also, this focuses on the Faerunian pantheon, and I try to only mention other (proto-human or other race) pantheons when it leads to at least one Faerunian god ascending/immigrating/dying/changing in a significant way.

Other than Tyr and Mulhorand/Unther, in my home game I tend to have changed the status of most interloper deities (gods from other worlds) to a more native ascension (spontaneous creation or a mortal who ascends in some way). So I am aware that at least Oghma, Silvanus, Loviatar, Mielikki, Tyche are interlopers and roughly when they appeared.

I am very interested if you either have a source for details about the ascension of deities not mentionned here, or have interesting homebrew to fill in some missing lore. I know many gods are missing despite have been around for a while, but I have no canonical details to put them anywhere specific on the timeline.

Oh, and this is pre-4e, I'm not even touching any of this for the 4e era.

So here's what I got, and sorry if some entries are obviously skipping key details, I'm trying to keep this as succinct as possible.

--

~-50 000 DR - Selûne and Shar are the firsts and share all divine essence to create a new world. They start with Jannath (aka Chauntea), promote 4 powerful primordials into the 4 Prime Elemental Gods (Kossuth, Istichia, Akadi, Grumbar). At least Kozah (aka Talos), Targos (aka Garagos), Silvanus, Oghma, Moander, Tyche are created or have immigrated from other worlds (in my home canon, these are all created by Shar and Selûne)

~-35 000 DR - Selûne brings in a sun from the Fire elemental plane, giving birth to Amaunator, which sparked the fury or Shar. Mystryl and the Weave are born from the clash between Shar and Selûne.

- ? DR - Miellikki has been on Faerun for a while (from another world) so I put her around here, after the creation of the Weave, which probably attracted more interloper gods than before. She promotes her daughter Lurue as a guardian on Faerun, ascendind her to demigoddess status.

~-29 000 DR - Auril ascends after killing her primordial rival during the Dawn Wars.

~-28 000 DR - Corellon leads the Seldarine to Faerun from the Feywild, clashed with Gruumsh and the Orc pantheon (Gruumsh loses an eye)

~-27 000 DR - Lolth is banished from the Seldarine after a failed attempt at killing her husband Corellon. This plot included their children Eilistraee and Vhaeraun.

-10450 DR - Lolth starts to be worshipped by the Dark Elves of Ilythiir during the Crown Wars as a last resort (Corellon won't appreciate)

-5750 DR - Auppenser becomes the leading god of the psiocracy of Jaamdath (more joins as the Jaamdathian Pantheon, including Helm's wife Murdane)

-3900 DR - Jergal, one of the few surviving Spellweavers following their failed Disjunction ritual, is killed by the dwarf Delzoun mid-ritual to bring back his people, and ascends as a deity, somehow.

-2488 DR - Mulhorandi/Unther Pantheon begin to rule as god-kings after causing the fall of the Imaskari Empire. This seems to be the first appearance of Tiamat and Marduk (aka Bahamut) on Faerun, not 100% sure, but definitely is the case for Assuran/Hoar.

~-2000 DR - Sune ascended around this time, bards have since sung and wrote multiple theories about how she came to be.

-1075-71 DR - Orcgate War, and first Deicide when Gruumsh killed Ra. Tiamat and Bahamut kill each others, after Tiamat tries to kill Gilgeam. Tiamat becomes trapped and bound to Avernus.

-725 DR - Ilmater and Loviatar ascend (this is pure homebrew, but I have a story about how these two were birthed together, showing different sides of Suffering).

-? DR The valiant knight Torm rose as a demigod around this time. we know it happened during the Time of Netheril, and probably in the Border Kingdoms. We have also confirmation that at least Leira and Malar existed by then, but no details other than that.

- 357 DR - The Dark Three (Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul) gain the powers of Jergal

-339 DR - Fall of Netheril, Mystryl dies, Mystra 1.0 is born. It will leave many deities only worshipped by them to become very weak, notably Moander, Jergal, Amaunator and Targos. As far as I know, Selûne, Shar, Chauntea and Tyche are not as weakened as the others part of the Netherese pantheon.

-338 DR - Kozah gains the portfolio of Wild Magic following the destruction of Netheril, changes to Talos.

-299 DR - The demigod of Battle Tempus challenges the weakened god of war Targos and wins. Targos is left with a small part of his former power, renames himself Garagos.

-256 DR - The Adama religion begins (worship of "everything" in Durpar)

-247 DR - Tyr appears to defeat what remains of the Psiocracy of Jhaamdath (and allies himself with Torm and Ilmater, starting the Triad). The God of Anarchy, Valigan Thirdson and most of what remained of Jhaamdathian Pantheon, fall into obscurity.

-174 DR - The wizard Azuth becomes the first Magister, and over the years becomes as powerful as a demigod (but not an actual god yet).

-33 DR - Talona defeats the demigodess of disease Kiputytto (in my homebrew, Talona was a powerful hag, not an interloper deity)

75 DR - Moander uses most of his remaining divinity to unleash the Creeping Death against elves, reduced to demigod status.

140 DR - Ascension of the mortal Savras in Halruaa, when he unravels the secrets of divinity by looking beyond time and space

161 DR - Azuth challenges and defeats Savras, locks him up in his scepter, and ascends to divinity

362 DR - Bhaal recruits Loviatar and Talona, collectively known as the Dark Deities (Bhaal really liked to be part of Dark trios)

374 DR - Shar in mortal form gives birth to a boy and gives him to a thieve's guild. He ascends on his death, becoming Mask

661 DR - Sunset of Amaunator

662 DR - Sunrise of Lathander

~760-63 DR - Dawn Cataclysm, Umberlee kills Murdane (Helm's wife), Moander corrupts Tyche, Selûne is forced to kill her, she "rises back" as Tymora and Beshaba.

1018 DR - Ascension of Gargauth, after being imprisoned by Asmodeus on the Prime material plane for a millenia

1346 DR - Tiamat returns, when her followers in Unther summon her aspect to fight Gilgeam

1357 DR - Moander is killed for good, Finder Wyverspur ascends.

1358 DR - Time of Trouble (too many changes to list, but notably includes death/rebirth/promotions/imprisonment of Bane, Torm, Bhaal, Malar, Torm again, Tiamat, Gilgeam, Hoar, Ramman, Tiamat, Anhur, Waukeen, Shar, Ibrandul, Myrkul, Mystra 2.0 and Cyric,). Roughly in order (other deities were less confrontational in their mortal stay).

1359 DR - Savras is released by Azuth, now the demigod of Divination. Cyric claims to have killed Leira (theorized to be Leira's greatest illusion). Bahamut returns as a deity after he directed the paladin of Ilmater Gareth Dragonsbane to defeat an aspect of Tiamat in order to destroy the Wand of Orcus.

1368 DR - Ascension of Velsharoon under the sponsorship of Talos. Kelemvor ascends as the new god of Death after his soul is freed (having been hidden all these years within Mask in the shape of a sword). Mask is weakened when the sword is broken and Cyric loses more power in the process (but gains a bit from Mask).

1369 DR - Former Banites who hated Cyric, took advantage of the turmoil following Kelemvor's ascension to free the Baneson Iyatchu Xvim, who took his father's throne. Cyric loses more power in the process.

1370 DR - Waukeen is freed from the Abyss (she was tricked and imprisoned by Graz'zt during the ToT). Velsharoon realizes he is being drained dry by Talos, he shifts his allegiance to Mystra and Azuth.

1372 DR - Return of Bane and death of Iyatchu Xvim, as his ascension was all according to his father's plans to use him as a vessel to come back. Cyric loses more power in the process.
