Employer gave me extra work and is threatening me with a police complaint
So I’m in my first year of college and recently joined a graphic design internship. At first, they gave me an assignment and said if I did it well, they’d keep me on. I finished it, they sent me an offer letter (just a PDF), I replied accepting on mail and they paid me ₹500 as a joining amount. The stipend was supposed to be ₹2500/month.
I told them clearly that I could only work from 8 PM to 12 AM. But they kept giving me tasks in the morning and afternoon anyway. In just 6 days, I ended up completing 13–14 projects (banners, certificates, medals, lanyards, etc.). It was exhausting, and honestly ₹2500 was nowhere near fair for that amount of work.
2 days ago, the employer kept giving me work from 7 PM to 2 AM. I was mentally exhausted, and he was messaging me every 10 minutes for updates. Out of anger, I blocked him. Now they’re calling me and threatening to file police complaints.
- I never signed any agreement or contract.
- I have proof of my working hours and all the project files I sent over email.
- They only sent me a PDF offer letter, nothing legally binding.
Can they actually take legal action and file a complaint against me? What can I do legally if they do file a complaint?
