What's your favorite underrated album from an overrated band?
[Did this yesterday on the pop-punk sub and got some really cool answers that made me revisit some stuff I hadn't heard in a while so thought it might be fun to do it here as well]
When I say "overrated" bands I just mean popular bands. Used overrated only as dramatic effect because it sounded good in the title haha
My main pick for punk would probably be Single Album by NOFX. I know that's kind of a hot take but, man, that album is just so good and the lyrics are excellent.
Some honorable mentions as well:
- Descendents - Cool to be You (most Descentents' fans would say this album is a bit too soft but it's got melodies for days)
- Blink 182 - California (loved the mix of Skiba's gloomy vibes with Mark and Travis)
- Pennywise - From The Ashes (it was Pennywises "latest album" when I discovered them so maybe that's more of an emotional connection)
- MxPx - Secret Weapon (the band past their "prime" but hitting as hard as ever)
- New Found Glory - Radiosurgery
- The Jam - In The City (people talk more about their later stuff but to me their debut album is unmatchable)
