Hey folks,

So I purchased three of these monitors on 11/25/2022. Unfortunately, they are out of warranty with AOC.

A few months ago, I noticed whenever the monitors went to sleep, I would have issues waking them up. They would freak out trying to register the 3rd monitor (one that is dead now).

To fix the issue in the past, I would simply unplug, then replug the displayport cable, and all would be good.

To bypass the issue, I decided to enable "monitors never sleep" and turned on a screensaver.

This past weekend, I was tweaking a new Windows 11 install. The tweak enabled the monitors to go to sleep.

When I went to turn them on (jiggling the mouse), one monitor wouldn't turn on. I tried unplugging and replugging the DP cable, but nothing!

I tried recycling power, but nothing!

What I'm experiencing right now is that the monitor, briefly (1/10 of a second), shows something, too quick to discern anything, every 4 seconds.

AOC says it sounds like an internal hardware issue. They said they couldn't help since it's out of warranty. Said to have it repaired.

I've already ordered a replacement, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if anyone experienced the same or something similar.

I don't mind tinkering with it. Especially if it just needs a capacitor or something.

Anyone in the Poconos here who has asthma?

Here's my dilemma.

Our 9-year-old was diagnosed with asthma in 2023. Since then, the poor kid has gone through an onslaught of medication. Albuterol, Prednisone, Duoneb, Symbacort, Dupixent. Just recently, he started using the vest compression thingie. This was recommended by his pulmonologist after he had an endoscopy and biopsy. They found that half his lung was covered in mucus due to a bacteria. They prescribed Augmentin to fight the bacteria. It hurts to watch him go through all of this.

Our son was born here in the Poconos in 2017; however, we moved to Seattle in 2018 due to work. His asthma didn't really start 'til we moved back to the Poconos in 2023.

Upon asking, our pulmonologist (in Allentown) told us that geography CAN play a part in one's asthma symptoms. She mentioned that Lehigh Valley happened to be the worst city to live in for asthmatics. I checked this, and lo and behold, Allentown was the number one worst place to live for asthmatics.

We live in the Poconos. My wife has it stuck in her head that our son is so sick due to living in the Poconos and due to our winters.

I've tried explaining to her that the Poconos is at least 45 minutes from the Lehigh Valley. She won't budge. She wants to move back to Seattle.

She feels moving to Seattle (apparently, one of the best places to live for asthmatics) will magically fix our son's issues. I hope she's right! But I've tried to explain that many asthmatics, unfortunately, just live knowing that they have to take medications for the rest of their lives.

I told her that as soon as my job allows it, we'll move to Raleigh, NC (another city that claims to be a great city for asthmatics). I'd rather stay on the East Coast.

I did not like Seattle at all. Ridiculously expensive! With just two weeks of good weather the whole year, lol.

Just venting and hoping people could chime in with their wisdom, advice, and/or experiences.
