Democrats lost 2.1M registered voters (2020–2024) and Independents hit record 45%. Were you one of them?

According to a detailed New York Times analysis of voter registration data from the 30 states + D.C. that track party affiliation:

- Between 2020 and 2024, Democrats lost ground to Republicans in every single one of those states.

- Democrats lost 2.1 million registered voters while Republicans gained 2.4 million.

- Gallup’s 2025 full-year data shows a record-high 45% of Americans identify as political independents (up from 43% in 2024), with Democrats and Republicans tied at 27% each.

A lot of the coverage notes that the drop in Democratic registrations is feeding directly into the independent/unaffiliated column (and some into Republican).

So my questions for you all: Are many of you (or conservatives you know) included in those numbers - meaning former registered Democrats who switched to Republican, went independent, or simply stopped identifying as Dem? If yes, what were the biggest reasons you left the Democratic Party?

I’m genuinely curious about the “why” from the conservative side. Not looking for a debate, just your honest takes.

Thanks in advance!

The X OP had a really good eye to pick this up. It is better to view the video, but the look exchange is certainly *something*. Christina Koch instinctively looks over at her partner upon hearing the phrase, and he seems to know exactly what she's thinking.

Whatever it is, the way they break eye contact looks to me like they're both trying to suppress the thought - nevermind, not appropriate, look away! So bizarre...

I started the menopause treatment journey at a pretty high fitness level. Peak fitness for me, as I just finished my first marathon! And then fast forward 3 years of absolute hell between finding the right HRT, suffering ridiculous muscle injuries left and right, battling insomnia, putting on weight and cellulite...

And now my "workouts" consist of walking. Sometimes, when I feel like it. Lol. Anytime I try to pick up a more challenging routine, I feel like I have the FLU in the days that follow - intense fatigue, muscles screaming, and queasy. Doesn't matter if it's HIIT, weightlifting, pilates - recovery is brutal. It's been hard to stick with anything because the pace is just too damn slow for any gains.

I'm about to try testosterone, and trying not to get my hopes up too hard, but could it be the missing link? Did anyone find anything else that helped them break through the wall? I know I sound dramatic. I'm definitely out of shape but I'm not a stranger to post-workout recovery. But it's like I'm allergic to building muscle at this point.

P.s. Diet is clean - cut alcohol, cut excess sugar besides fruit, peanut butter and whole grain toast, protein in every meal.
