Megathread: Recent Pentagon release of UFO Files
Today at appx. 8:00am (EST), the US gov made www.war.gov/ufo available which includes a number of documents, videos and images. This has been labelled as "Release 01", and further files may be released.
This was posted along with an official X.com post titled: DEPARTMENT OF WAR RELEASES UNIDENTIFIED ANOMALOUS PHENOMENA FILES IN HISTORIC TRANSPARENCY EFFORT
Mainstream media outlets are reporting this showing some of the videos/images.
At first glance the main body of the files are sourced from:
NASA
FBI
Department of War
Department of State
Regarding moderation:
For now, mods are permitting posts discussing specific files in detail of substance but are otherwise following Rule 4. Posts discussing the same leak/file are likely to be removed unless offering unique discussion (at mod discretion)

David Grusch named missing Air Force General William Neil McCasland as one of the officers who had been in charge of classified programs related to non-human craft recovery and reverse-engineering
Grusch alleged that the general, who vanished without a trace on February 27, had not been cooperative with lawmakers seeking to interview individuals with knowledge of America's alleged contact with extraterrestrials.
Grusch said: 'They already have the list of some of these hostile folks that ran those programs. Unfortunately, one of those individuals, Major General retired Neil McCasland, is currently missing, which is very concerning to me as well.'

The X OP had a really good eye to pick this up. It is better to view the video, but the look exchange is certainly *something*. Christina Koch instinctively looks over at her partner upon hearing the phrase, and he seems to know exactly what she's thinking.
Whatever it is, the way they break eye contact looks to me like they're both trying to suppress the thought - nevermind, not appropriate, look away! So bizarre...

Amy Eskridge's friend, Franc Milburn recently released more text messages and emails.
Notably, the emails mention Mark McCandlish, a UFO researcher who died by suicide who otherwise did not appear suicidal.

Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary just confirmed he personally viewed the Pentagon's UAP files. The MP who first asked him about UAP in 2023 translated his answer.
Quick update for everyone following the Japan thread. At the regular cabinet press conference on Monday May 11, NicoNico News reporter Kou Nanao asked Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara three questions about the U.S. Department of War's May 8 release of 161 UAP records.
Kihara confirmed personal viewing. He named Japan's coordination posture toward Washington. On Japan's own disclosure he chose case-by-case discretion calibrated to protect intelligence-gathering capabilities, the same language structure the U.S. release used to justify what was withheld.
What didn't make Japan Times: this is not the first time Kihara has been on the record about UAP. Back in December 2023, then-Defense Minister Kihara was questioned about UAP at the Diet by Yoshiharu Asakawa and stated UAP was a personal concern because of his Japan Airlines background.
The MP asking the questions in 2023 was Asakawa. Asakawa chaired the questioning portion of the March 31 Parliamentary Federation 4th General Meeting (where six names from the ATTRITION roster were referenced). Asakawa translated the May 11 exchange and pushed it onto English-language social.
Same MP. Same broadcaster. Same reporter. Three-year arc.
