Raspberry pi 5 open media vault Nas help? Or alternatives?

So far I have run into some annoying issues. I am running Raspberry Pi OS Lite, and once I install OpenMediaVault, Ethernet does not work right away out of the box like it does on Raspberry Pi OS. Because of that, I have to connect a keyboard and monitor so I can run the OMV first aid tool and manually configure the network settings. I cannot SSH into it since there is no internet connection.

After I disconnect anything I used, like the keyboard or screen, it forgets all the Ethernet settings I just changed. It will not reconnect to the internet unless I plug everything back in exactly as it was when I saved the settings.

After accepting that situation, even though I would prefer not to, I kept a keyboard and monitor connected. Then the Pi password suddenly changed on its own. The password I had been using for the past three hours no longer works.

I did a clean reinstall of the SD card with Raspberry Pi OS and set everything up again, but this time the password does not work on first boot onto OMV (worked in pi os).

I really want OpenMediaVault to work, but I am also open to more stable alternatives. Any ideas?

Psxmemcard gen 2 endless dead ends, please help

I’ve been troubleshooting this for 3 days straight.

I can get all my games to show up in OPL, and on the very first launch everything actually worked, games opened and played fine.

My current (unconfirmed) theory is that every time OPL launches, it creates save data folders in Memory Card > PS2, and that somehow causes instability over time.

Now, games rarely launch at all. Most freeze, fail to open, or become unstable.

Things I’ve already tried:

Swapping to a different memory card

Restoring the original factory files from the 8GB card

Restoring the file setup that originally worked

Deleting the PS2 save data folders

Reformatting the card

Testing NHDDL and Neutrino (games showed up, but never launched)

Trying both old and new naming formats in OPL Manager

Using a different “MMCE compatible” OPL version

•Updating and downgrading the firmware version

•using a dedicated slot 2 memory card (it still automatically creates the memory card save at game launch)

At this point I’m out of ideas. Has anyone run into this before or found a fix?

At a loss replaced with a known good laser had issues on both, replaced ribbon cable, opened and greased all gears, inspected for damage (there is none on the gears) console boots fine but has this, after I swapped the laser it opened once fine then went back to this. Any ideas?

As simple as it sounds, stupidly unplugged the laser while it was powered on doing a laser swap and killed the console, it powers on. Resets but has no video or audio and the disc tray does not open. I've swapped the power supply and tested all fuses and they're good, any idea where this failure point is?

I was getting tons of visual interference due to all the electronics on my desk/power supplies mounted underneath, There were no shielded RCA to PS MULTI AV out I could find online except for component and I didn't have a component CRT so unwilling to compromise I made this shielded adapter so i could plug another set of shielded cables. Completely eliminated all the interference! And yes I did move the tv away from the PC but it still was bad prior to this adapter lol
