i have a bit of a complicated situation. i'm commited to usc and i've found a roommate and we are pretty much confirmed. i was also talking to this other girl who doesn't have a roommate. if i get off the waitlist at ucla or berkeley, my parents really want me to go there (ucla is ~9% acceptance rate off of waitlist, berkeley is close to 0%). cost is not a concern.
how do i convince my parents to take usc over ucla/berk? i got admitted to an honors premed program at usc, which is essentially smaller class sizes and clearance to take pre-health related courses. however, my parents are stuck on the fact that ucla and berkeley are just more recognizable through name, and i'm trying to help them see that undergrad prestige does not matter for med school.
what do i tell my roommate? i do want to avoid telling her just because of the sheer unlikeliness for me to get off of these waitlists, but if i do (and my parents don't end up getting convinced), i don't want her to be stuck without a roommate. can i introduce her to the other girl whos looking for a roommate? doing a triple is kind of hard since most of usc's housing is doubles. even if i do get off the waitlists, i don't know if i would attend.
please help!! any advice is welcome.
