Basically what the title says. Once companies finish their S4 migrations in 2027, do you think there will be mass layoffs in the consulting industry? Or do you think there will be a pivot to focus on data governance, data quality, and AI services? I’m talking companies like Deloitte, Syniti, Infosys, etc…

Long story short, I am working for a company going through a massive enterprise wide IT project. I am critical to the project, and if I don’t do my job or do it incorrectly, the whole project halts. This is a project from hell that is going very poorly.

The company I work for has not made any effort to get me a promotion and my salary is already at the high end of the salary band so I can’t go much further without a promotion. But they won’t make a new position for me, and they won’t outright promote me unless the position already exists.

I have the opportunity to jump ship and go to a company where I will make 10-15k more than I do now. But because I am critical for the IT project at my current company, it will 100% burn bridges with everyone on the IT project which is basically the whole business. My boss will probably be mad but forgiving. But project leadership will remember that I left them high and dry, and this company is a major employer in my area that I might return to one day.

Should I leave my current company because they are not giving me any opportunities for growth and the salary increases won’t keep up with inflation? Or should I stay in my current role until the project is less hectic or even until it is finished?

Did anyone else have delusions about vampires? I had a delusion that billionaires, celebrities, CEOs and politicians are all vampires who actually never need to sleep and only pretend to sleep so that they aren’t outed to the world. I believed they worship satan and drink human blood for fun, not because they have to. Anyone else have a similar experience?
