Rules clarification - using animal abilities while being poisoned

Hey there!

I have a question because my action cards were effected by another player's poison effect.

My cards:
Expert on Australia
Brahminy Kite

I had one poison left on association 2, but used animals on 5 to play the kite for 12 money while at 13 money. This should have triggered both expert on australia and the kite's ability hunting 2.

Boardgamearena denied both abilities due to the poison.
I was not aware poison could deny animal abilities if playing said animal would drop you to 0 money due to poison.

Had to redo the entire turn and essentially spend 2 turns just removing poison.
I know why my group uses peaceful mode..

How does this work?

Want to get rid of my three colonies of Porcellio laevis 'Dairy Cow' - Germany

Hey there!

I want to step down from the isopod hobby for the time being, as I really need the space to breed dart frog food instead. As such, my beloved porcellio laevis 'dairy cow' have to go.

I keep them in three goldfish bowls, and there are a few hundreds of them. Would sent them to anybody willing for shipping costs+5€ (for the whole bunch combined). The 5 bucks goes into buying whatever I need for shipping them savely, and I can add my remaining dried fish if you want. Can add a cuttlebone as well, but I will keep most of that and the remaining fish food for breeding dart frog food instead.

So yeah. Milky cows, the foracious sharks of the isopod world. A good colony size if tossed together, or you could split them into half a dozen containers.

I am also very happy trading them with the same number in white dwarves or, preferable, brown dwarves - the frogs will be able to handle either. The dairy cows just would eat the frogs instead..

Thanks!

Hey there!

I am trying to find a starting colony of brown dwarf isopods (Trichoniscus pusillus). I tried finding them on ebay and various terraristik shops, but all of them have white dwarves instead. I prever the brown variant, as it can escape frogs somewhat.

Does anybody of you know of a german shop that will deliver them or does anyone of you have a colony you can spare a few dozen of?

best regards

Hey there!

Last week I posted a question about humidity with my current terrarium build.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DartFrog/comments/1srnezn/ranitomeya_imitator_question/
Keep in mind that this is a work in process, and while humidity became better, and will improve even more as I am installing a hygrostat today for fully automatic humidity level keeping, I only plan on purchasing frogs the earliest in october, but more likely towards the end of the year. So I have plenty of time to get this thing adjusted to whatever my choice falls to.

I had planned to set up this terrarium (120x60x100cm or 47x23.6x39inches) for a group of ranitomeya imitator varadero. A fellow hobbyist recommended I choose a different species, as aggression within r. imitator wouldn't do well for group keeping. I by no means want to go back to having >100 epipedobates anythonji, with males screaming so loud my landlord threatens eviction, but I figured a group of 6 to 8 frogs would be nice (less if they are tinc sized).

Well. Here I am, asking for recommedations.

I have kept D. Tinctorius 'Nominat', D. Auratus 'El Cope' and E. Anthonyii in the past, but that is more than 15 years ago. And while I liked those frogs, I want something different for this fresh start. A frog that is bold, beautiful and active.

While I had decided in my head to go for thumbnail frogs this time around, I am not averse to the bigger frogs, if you think they would do good in my terrarium.

Some species I want to exclude:
D. Auratus - While mine got slightly bolder with time, I strongly prefered the boldness of the other two frog species. If they come out when I feed, thats awesome.
D. Leucomelas - Not my color, also rather loud. They are awesome in other regards, though..
E. Mysteriosus - Beautiful frog, but I don't believe I could reliably cool down my terrarium to temperatures of 25°C in the summer.

So.. what frog would you pick?
What frogs promises the most satisfaction?
What frog would use the verticality and be good in small groups?

Hopy you can give me a slight idea on how to progress further, as while I read through dendrobase for many hours, the website doesn't give hands on experience, just recommended specs.
