Versatile race day shoe - AP4 vs Metaspeed Sky vs others?
Hi!
Looking to buy a new race day shoe that can fit 10k racing up to marathon (is it even possible?).
I'll be running 10k, half marathon and marathon in the next year and looking to get a pair of race day shoes.
About me:
- 5K: 19:45 / 10K: 42:21 / HM: 1:31:19 / Marathon: 3:52
- Midfoot striker, normal width feet
- Building back mileage to 70-80 km/week
- Following Norwegian Singles training (3 quality sessions/week)
My goals this following year will be to break 40min for the 10k and about 3:30 for marathon if it makes a difference.
Current rotation:
- Saucony Hurricane (retiring soon, replacing with Vomero Plus)
- Asics Superblast 2 (long runs)
- Adidas Adizero Evo SL (intervals)
- Nike Alphafly 1 (few years old, used for 164km, unsure if pop is still there)
I got two main priorities for my new shoe, first of all to be versatile from 10k to marathon but also have decent durability, I don't want to replace them after 2-300km.
I've been eyeing the Adios Pro 4 which seems like a good fit (also on sale for about £150) but want to be sure that I'm not missing out on anything else. Or if you think AP4 is not a good fit, I'd love to hear your guys thoughts!
Asics Metaspeed Sky Tokyo also seems interesting but not sure on its durability.
Appreciate any input, thanks!
