ZX6R - fun or not at slow speeds?

I low sided and totalled my ZX4R around a year back while filming a stupid cornering video. I had 1 year of riding experience and been riding scooters or small motorcycles on and off for years without any crash before that.

I have learned my lesson, and I swear to never participate in street stupidity anymore. I don't want to ride fast anymore on street, and keep my speeds below 50-60mph on backroads and maximum 80-90 mph on highways/straights.

Will the ZX6R be enjoyable at these speeds? or is it the kind of bike that I won't enjoy unless I'm tracking or ripping it in the twisties?

I loved my ZX4R for its ability to juice itself out even at moderate speeds, but sadly that bike is discontinued in my country now.

I love the inline 4 scream and this is the lowest powered inline 4 bike I can buy right now.

Am I making a big mistake by buying this bike? Will it be too much for me on the streets?

DIY possible on Kawasaki ZX6R 2026?

My local Kawasaki dealer has shut shop, and I need to upgrade from a ZX4R I totalled a year back.

I can order a ZX6R from my nearest dealer, but they offer no doorstep service or service camps in my city.

The salesperson told me that you can do DIY or local mechanic service (they are happy to share details of competent mechanics) but it will void warranty.

My options are:

  1. Get the 6R, and accept a voided warranty while doing local service. If any major fault occurs, it can be costly repairs for me
  2. Go for S1000RR or the new Panigale V2 both of which offer doorstep service. However, for any repairs/complex issues I still need to ship the bikes to nearby dealers. This is again hassle and expense, plus long term the cost of repairs on these are even higher post warranty.
  3. Get a simple bike like KTM RC390 with local dealers. I'm not sure if I will even enjoy this as I am coming from a 4 cyl bike
  4. Leave biking for good. The crash did scare me but I feel more mature and aware of the risks now. Definitely not gonna be a squid anymore and take it easy.

Would appreciate insights on long term ownerships costs and DIY-ness of all the bikes mentioned, specially panigale V2 and ZX6R.

The Kawasaki dealer in my city has winded up operations, and no other super bike dealers exist.

I wanted to buy a ZX6R or a Panigale V2. I'm leaning towards the 6R because of the inline 4 supersport feel.

But the V2 is an exotic bike with doorstep service available by ducati.

Is there such a possibility with Kawasaki bikes? I can do service on my own or use a local mechanic but I fear it might void the warranty/insurance.

The dealer said they plan to conduct periodic service workshops for existing customers in my city but its not guaranteed.

Should I get the 6R anyway, or go for the V2 which has doorstep service available?

How do people here without a dealer in their city service their Kawasaki bike without voiding warranty or insurance?

I know the Streetfighter V2 (the new model) is the bike to compare with, but there is no proper Daytona right now and these are my two options.

Key things that matter to me are sound, looks, cornering. I mainly ride on the twisties.

Anyone who has owned both - which one do you prefer?

I'd love to get the triple as its better on paper, but the ducati looks and exotica appeal to me as well.

I have been drooling to get a Panigale V2 (the new one) but the nearest service station is 200 miles away.

The ducati guy says they will do doorstep maintenance for some Rs 5-10k extra (~$100, which is fine, as the service is 1x a year).

But 1) I do not trust their word 2) what if something breaks down and i need to shift the bike to the dealer. The cost + hassle seems like pain.

The ZX6R has the sweet inline 4 sound, and the classic supersport feel which might be extinct soon. Plus dealer in city.

Had a test ride of the Panigale, it felt OK but nowhere near the 6R scream. The weight, looks and handling were awesome though.

My main issue is the doorstep service and potential downtime or other issues if the bike has some major issue.

Can someone who has a Ducati bike without a dealer near them give me some insight?

Money is not that big of an issue, but I hate hassle and waiting. But then, what dream can be achieved without pain?

On paper the Kawi makes 100% sense. It sounds better, saves me money, easy to maintain. But it also feels like money wasted while still holding on to the ducati dream that wasn't that far!

What do I prioritise - the Ducati dream, or the Kawasaki practicality?

PS: Another wildcard can be the street triple (dealer in city) but I prefer sports bike looks.

I think this bike is great to look at and ride.

But I've heard mixed opinions on the stock exhaust note. It's illegal to mod the exhaust where I live, with frequent busts, so the termignoni is not an option (which sounds a bit better).

But this bike seems to really lack compared to the old V2. Even the front seems too lifted like an adventure bike!

Would love to know your thoughts on it, specifically the stock exhaust.
