Violin hurting my collarbone

I'm probably going to sound really whiny here but I'm a beginner, and the way my violin rests is really uncomfortable on my collarbone. After 15 minutes of playing it leaves a red mark. Am I doing something wrong? Or is there something I can do to fix this issue? I'd like to be able to practice for longer periods of time without taking breaks every few minutes purely for my collarbone

What's something you wish you knew when you first started learning?

I'm 15 and have never touched a violin in my life, but I have decided to start learning and will have my first lesson in about a week. Is there any advice you could give me that will help me as a beginner?

I want to learn the violin but in order to do that I would need to cut my nails short and keep them short which I really don't want to do 😩

Please send pics of cute short nail art or give me reasons why short nails are better or literally anything because I am NOT hyped for this

Edit: I wasn't actually expecting this to work but you guys are awesome, I'm gonna do it!!

A very beloved hobby of mine is nail art, and I will not keep my nails short for years purely for the sake of learning violin. I really want to learn so if there's any way at all that I can keep my nails long while taking up the violin I would love to hear from you. Otherwise I will need to consider a different instrument. Thank you in advance!
