Antique Pine - How To Achieve?

How's the best way to dye some new pine an antique pine colour, so it blends in with some older stuff?

I was going to buy some colron wood dye, as I've used it before and found it very good, and I still have some old tins, but just not any in antique pine colour.

So, I went to buy a tin, and it's now water based instead of spirit based, and after reading the reviews, I didn't purchase it.

The photo I've attached is from an amazon review from someone who bought the new Colron water based antique pine wood dye, and as you can see, it barely dyed the wood - it is much lighter.

Travel Insurance - Yes Or No?

Is travel insurance really needed?

I want to fly to Thailand from the UK, and was going to fly direct with Thai airways, BUT, because the increase in flight prices, I was now thinking of getting a cheaper flight with Emirates, that connects in Dubai.

UK government advice is to not travel to Dubai at the moment, so I think travel insurance would be voided anyway for travelling (even though it's only for a connecting flight) to a country that the government advises against.

What should I do?

How To Get This Fluting Effect?

Does anyone know how I could get this fluting effect (see picture) on some wooden posts with hand tools?

The fluting I'd want would only have to be about 3 or 4mm wide (so not as wide as those in the picture).

I don't want to buy a router, but I don't mind buying a hand tool if I know it will do this job for me.

Any ideas what hand tool I could buy to achieve this, or perhaps make a tool, or methods, I'd love to hear from you!

Are Refiners Buying Gold?

Some months ago, alot of refiners stopped buying gold (and silver).

What's the latest news, are they back buying again or back to normal yet?

If not, when will it be back to normal, are they waiting for prices to drop?

I had intended to fly to Thailand from the UK at the end of April for my first holiday ever to Thailand and to visit Pattaya, and just around the time I was going to book the flights, this war was started against Iran by US and Israel - pushing flight prices literally "sky high" - so I never booked the flights.

I was going to be flying from the UK, and direct flights return would have cost about £700. Last time it checked, it would cost almost £1200.

I could (still can) have afforded to pay the extra for the flight, but I felt like I was being taken for a mug, and I'm convinced this is why wars are started - to further line the pockets of the rich.

I could have flown much cheaper if I got a connecting flight at Dubai, but that would just make travel time a lot longer, plus, with the war now, I wouldn't feel safe travelling through Dubai.

I'm kinda regretting not just paying the extra and booking the flights now, as it would have been a holiday of a lifetime.

Do you think it's worth me booking and going now in the next couple of months, or is it too hot?

Shall I just let this war BS die down a bit, and book for maybe December or January when it's a bit cooler?

What has everyone else done, has this war caused anyone else to change plans to fly to Thailand?

Would like to hear if you changed travel plans due to these flight prices, Particularly if you're from UK?
