I am currently committed to UCSD as a first year but I am still waiting for the UCLA waitlist (which I dont know when it comes out, it really varied for different situations according to other people). I saw that the summer bridge program would make me take UCSD classes and was just wondering if i can still enroll in the UCSD summer bridge program if I have the slightest chance of not attending UCSD.

Hi everyone I am a high school senior and I am admitted to UCI but I want to how hard it is to switch major at UCI?

About me

- got in as sociology major

- got into honors program

- want to transfer to business econ/quantitative econ/business majors/STEM majors.

I know sociology is in the school of social sciences, and the 2 econ majors I just mentioned are in the same school. Does that make it easier to transfer within schools? Can I switch it before my first year, and if not what do I need to do?

Thank you everyone!

Hi everyone I am a high school senior from California, and I am so hesitant about which college to choose.

Currently between UCSD & UCI, other options include UNC (out of state, so tuition is about $65,000 and NYU (liberal studies core, almost $100,000)

UCSD

- warren college

- 1hr15min drive from home, trains available

Pros:

- really easy to switch majors (harder for selective ones), good for me since i'm not sure what I want to study yet. currently interested business/finance/something STEM related.

- UC tuition is way more affordable

Cons:

- heard that warren has "bad" dining halls, older dorms, and a bit far from things.

- if i do end up studying business, UCSD barely has a business school i think, no business majors for undergrad only minors.

UCI

- sociology major

- got into honors program

- i live right next to it

Pros:

- visited the school, really nice campus. convenient and everything since im gonna be really close to home and will still have my car.

Cons:

- i am likely going to live at home with my family, possibly missing out on experiences? and less independence?

- since i live here everything is like boring already.

- probably not as flexible to transfer majors, i want to transfer to business econ/quantitative econ/business majors/STEM majors.

How hard is it to switch majors at UCI? Sociology is in the school of social sciences and the 2 econ majors I just mentioned are in the same school. Does that make it easier?
