Clean up after yourself when tabling Sungod soccer club

It literally took me like 5 minutes to pick up. I see this every quarter. I have nothing against tabling at all but PLEASE just clean up after yourself. I found dozens of flyers all over library walk. This particular area was full of flyers from the sungod soccer club. Do better. Be better. This applies to all organizations though

ppl wont shut up @ 24 hr Geisel

Its so frustrating that every time I have gone since it has opened theres groups of ppl just using it as a hangout spot, they're being loud AF, and messing around. These people open their laptops, then be loud as hell for hours, then close their laptops and leave, meanwhile they're disrupting EVERYONE who has been waiting eagerly for 24 hr geseiel to finally be able to lock in. WHY DO YOU EVEN COME HERE Got to price, go to your dorms, bc the rest of us needed this one spot to actually study and yall are RUINING it for EVERYONE. the library staff cant be surprised if ppl arent coming and it gets taken away again bc its not being used enough. If youre gonna talk at least try to be respectful, or watch your volume. If i could hear you on the farthest corner with my noise cancelling headphones then you are a problem! I’m not expecting it to be silent, but I do expect ppl to be respectful and mindful of their volume. Also stop watching videos with speaker on blast, are you a toddler???

My prof makes us watch AI video for lecture every week

Just completely AI generated video that he proudly presents as lecture content every single week. AI script, AI voice over and even AI slides, luckily it's not all of his content but damn is this where my money has gone to??

What I can do to help out my roommate?

I am rooming with another person for this school year, he is a really nice dude and he honestly he does 60% of all the chores at the dorm and is very respectful, had I decided to dorm again on campus next year he is someone I definitely would dorm with.

However I noticed that on his free time he would sometimes listen to YouTube and podcasts at the room. He does it with his headphones on and it wasn’t bothering me in the slightest. However sometimes when I walk in and out of the dorm I do notice what’s on the screen and what he is listening to. He is listening to Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and other right wing and radical right figures I dont recognize.

What I can do to get him out of this ideology? He almost never talk about politics actively with me and he seems like a happy dude. Maybe because I am a moderate but the few time I did try to bring up politics he sounds pretty reasonable and we even find huge common ground on supporting universal healthcare and on supporting Palestinian people. you don’t get the vibe he is some radical right conspiracy believer at all. But I am genuinely a bit concerned about the nature of the stuff he is watching. Is there anything I can do about it and how should I go about it?

markets have the shittiest sunscreen ever

ran out of my usual sunscreen and made the mistake of getting the one from the markets (copperstone, I’m looking at you) to save money.

this shit turns me from a brown woman to a white woman. not because it prevents tanning, but because it leaves such a HORRIBLE WHITE CAST. and it looks so greasy. and then it turns into a white powder that’s so difficult to get rid of if you get it on your clothes or phone or glasses (the worst). and it keeps getting in my eye because it finds a way somehow (my og never gets in my eye). and oh my god, this shit FUCKING STINGS SO MUCH. The number of times I’ve had to be in pain with watery eyes and irritation in my eyes, barely able to open them for 2 hours straight. Don’t even get me started.

Center hall smells like BO

Does anyone know why 😭 I’m assuming it’s from the construction maybe a machine or something but it’s oddly selective. Like, some halls smell, some don’t. Even a TARGET aisle smelled…

Dining Dollars vs Cash

Through research I found that ucsd dining dollars and cash are 1:1 ratio, so basically it's the same as spending regular money. I just wanted to know if as a commuter I can still use the dining halls if I want to via real us money or credit/debit card? If I do so will I be charged extra for not having dining dollars or will I get tax deduction? I tried researching but I found covid time information and believe it might be outdated for 2026.

job reccs for UCSD students

for context: I'm an incoming student and was wondering what types of jobs people on campus had. I know La Jolla is a nice area, so I was thinking about maybe working as a waitress to help pay for my tuition! just wanted to know what types of job people worked other than work study!

Structural Engineering at UCSD or Industrial Engineering at UofT

Hi everyone,

I’m an Indian international student currently finishing high school in Dubai, and I’m having a tough time deciding between two great offers. My ultimate goal is a career in Management Consulting (the "Big 5"), and I’m looking for the best balance of job stability, "rich" career prospects, and a manageable college experience.

Option 1: University of Toronto – Industrial Engineering

  • The Pro: It’s a direct pipeline to my dream career. The Indy curriculum and the PEY Co-op seem like the perfect bridge into consulting.
  • The Fear: I’ve heard the "U of Tears" horror stories- specifically regarding grade deflation and a lack of support for undergraduates. I’m worried that the intense grind might hurt my GPA, which I need to keep high for a future MBA.

Option 2: UC San Diego – Structural Engineering (Seventh College)

  • The Pro: I was placed in Seventh College, which has very flexible GEs. Between the California weather, proximity to the beach, and a more balanced lifestyle, I feel I’d have a much better "life" here. It also feels like a safer environment to protect my GPA.
  • The Fear: I’m worried that Structural Engineering won’t provide a direct path into Management Consulting, making it harder to land those high-paying roles right out of undergrad.

The Dilemma: Cost is roughly the same for me at both schools. I’m trying to figure out which path will give me the best ROI. Is the UofT prestige and consulting pipeline worth the risk of burnout and grade deflation? Or is it better to go to UCSD, enjoy the experience, and try to pivot into consulting from a different engineering major?

Would love to hear from anyone in these programs or those who have made a similar choice!

Question about Bioinformatics at UCSD

Hello everyone :)

I recently got accepted into UCSD for Bioinformatics at ERC as an international student. My dream is to go into cancer research and get a phD in the same, specifically for chemo drug design. I've heard that, while an amazing course, bioinformatics has less wet lab work compared to other BENG majors.

Can I still get good undergraduate cancer research opportunities as a Bioinformatics major?
Will Bioinformatics allow me to really go deep into cancer drug discovery and related chemotherapy fields?
Also, will heavy GE requirements at ERC make it more difficult to get more research hours?

Thank you for the help!

Summer sessions

Hey everyone! I plan on taking summer courses, but Id rather do them at a community college. How does the process looks like? Or how do I transfer the credits to UCSD :0? It’s my first time taking summer courses in CC since I’m going back to LA.
