Has anyone else noticed an increase in LinkedIn recruiters reaching out?

These past 2 months I’ve been contacted by a few recruiters looking to fill positions (experienced hired with semi experience) for 4 different fabs. All of them advertised higher salary and comp than what I get paid, unfortunately I don’t want to move. Last year i was only contacted by 1 recruiter and the comp was similar to my current comp.

Demand for chips has picked up and there’s a lot on new fabs in the process of ramping, I’m guessing there is a shortage of talent with industry experience.

Hopefully that means that the downturn is over and can’t have a decent raise this year

Citizens cannot impeach nor request the impeachment of an elected official in the state of Utah. Other state allow for “recall elections”, basically allowing people to vote again.

Is there a way something similar could be implemented in Utah? Could it be started with a citizen-initiated ballot?

I started my career as a SI, doing hardware/program upgrades. My company never received “smart manufacturing” request as part of the scope (IoT, big data, cybersecurity, cloud computing, etc.), knowing process control was more important.

I’ve been working at a manufacturing plant for 3 years and this past year and a half there’s been a push to modernize but it’s expensive and finding people with those skill sets is hard. Management is putting more value on data mining than system optimization.

I was wondering if “smart manufacturing” is still a niche in the PLC world or it’s an everyday thing for those working in new builds? I’m in my late 30s and starting to feel like a fossil now that I see all the emerging AI/cloud technologies

I work as an engineer for an international fabrication company that has a “newish local” office in my city, my boss is in charge of getting us new businesses and managing the projects.

I got hired a year ago as a result of my boss work. Apparently the business unit I work at was going to close until he got here and turned things around. He worked after hours and weekends to make it happened.

Anyways, he has a kid and wife. She is leaving him and moving away with his kid and he’s cool about it because he’s about to be promoted to regional manager with a clear path for another promotion. He lives for the industry. I’ve met a bunch of other successful people who are similar (divorce, neglected kids, no friends).

I have a small side business that I would like to grow, but I wonder if my top competition will be people like him?!

There’s no way I can compete with that level of commitment (for more than a couple of years), my family time comes first. Should I take that as a limiting factor to my potential growth ? Is that level of sacrifice required to truly grow and scale? Have you grown to 8 digit figures in revenue without that sacrifice?
