Last week I got my IG and Facebook account banned instantly without the chance to appeal. I had just posted my wedding photos with my family and nothing else. I have 3k followers only, my account is private and over 10yo.
I had an old account not linked to my main one and I subscribed to Meta verified so I could try to appeal and explain I’ve done nothing wrong. Never posted, commented or followed anything related to terr***** activities. I reached out countless times and they refused to let me appeal and stated it did not show any options on their end to move my case to further review. They never told me what I did, and nothing else could be done.
However, I had a suspicion that this could have been caused by my name. I was born in Brazil and I was named after the Egyptian goddess Isis. Way before all this mess and war came to place.
I live in US currently and unfortunately because of how uncomfortable this makes me feel I’ve thought countless times to legally change my name. I haven’t done it yet cause first, totally unfair and second, is so much work to change a first name like that for all your documents and immigration purposes.
I know some ppl working at Meta and they submitted an internal appeal on my behalf. Got the response today that my name was the reason for the ban. Check the screenshot I attached.
This is above absurd and racist and I am going to sue Meta if they don’t get my account back. The AI been using for this it failing poorly and something needs to be done to stop this.
