Seeing ex-bully thriving

Hi

I know I shouldn't have, but I checked out my previous manager's LinkedIn out of curiosity. She is thriving.

This woman made my life a living hell, so much so that I left the firm relatively early. I did send HR a detailed letter on my last day setting out her mistreatment.

They told me later that if I wanted them to pursue the grievance, they would have to summarise the letter to my ex-manager (but doing so would definitely expose it was me, as it was a v small team). I was so scared of her blackballing my career, that I told them that as long as they keep the letter on file for their records, this will be enough.

My ex-manager is powerful and privileged and has friends in high places. So I thought better to just leave and be done with her and her awful minions.

I am now slightly regretting my decision. I guess just looking for empathy here. In my head, I think I made the right decision, given how vile and unstable this woman is. But it does hurt knowing she gets away with this time and time again, and still a powerful person in the industry.

I know she has bullied others in the past, but is very careful to act like a saint with most of her team. So it's a few people's word against her.

I am very glad HR is at least aware of her bullying and harassment. I've blocked her and the team on LinkedIn and won't bother checking up on her again.

Extending contract

Hi there

When are you generally informed that your contract will be extended? I.e. will they inform you on just the 1 week's notice, or do they generally let you know a bit earlier?
