The living room is still very much a work in progress but I bought a beautiful navy blue leather sofa that I think solves the seating issue I was having. I have it facing my vintage sofa (which still needs to be reupholstered, but these things take time).

I want to replace the ceiling fan next. It’s just so big and heavy in the space. And dark. I was thinking the UFO shape of the Nelson bubble lamp as a replacement. Is it a little too obvious a choice for a mid century home (early 60s ranch house)? What size? There’s a 17 inch and a 24 inch.

I don’t want anything big or busy because while I want a ‘big light’ in this part of the room to supplement the table lamps and anchor the seating space, it’s not the place I want my statement lighting fixture. The room is a combination kitchen/dining room/living room/entryway and the ceiling is currently very busy with a bunch of mis-matched ugly fixtures. I’ve already replaced one of the ‘boob lights’ with some flat puck lights and that helps some. The statement fixture of the room will be the chandelier over the dining room table that I haven’t picked out yet.
