New to detecting with a mission and needing some advice

My Mission: To find my Dads wedding ring.

Some background: About 15-20 years ago (maybe more), my Dad lost his wedding ring in their garden. He passed 11 years ago and it has been something that has come up in conversion with my mum a few times a year since.

I picked up a second hand Bounty Hunter Lone Star Pro and a pinpointer a few years ago and have sporadically attempted to detect around areas of the garden, unfortunately the garden is big so I've tried to do it a bit at a time to logically break it up. I have found a number of metal bits (nails, bike mud guard, off cuts of fence mesh... etc) but this is slowing things down massively as I have to check each beep. I've tried to change the settings on the detector but from what I've read about my detector is that gold can show across 4 sectors (foil, 5c, Alu & Zinc) all of which I can turn on and off, but due to inexperience I haven't done so as I don't want to miss anything.

Do you have any advice? Am I going about it correctly or anything I can change to help my search?

Any help much appreciated.

I've been trying to find the answer to the above question for a while but keep being disappointed.

I've tried Pukka, Pieminster, Own brand supermarket pies... But all either have very small bits you can't taste or the kidney is blended into the gravy.
