False advertising? Nah—just extra cheesy marketing
You’re not old unless you know what band this is (and liked it).
Who served on PC-Class ships? Do you think the Navy should’ve kept them for the situation in the Straight of Hormuz? These ships were underestimated for their size.
I served onboard for 3 1/2 years as a HM and completed 3 deployments to the NAG. Most of or time was sector defense for ABOT and KAOT but after we transferred all defense to the Iraqi navy, we moved closer to the SOH and played war games with carriers and CRUDES ships. I earned my OOD u/w and stood watch many long days and nights on the bridge. Tough job but made the closest friends with my brothers on that crew.
Bought my home 6 years ago with this basketball court. My kids are now adults so this is just taking up space that I would like to reclaim. I don’t want to contract someone, so what’s the best method?
When this movie came out, I was serving in the military and didn't get a chance to watch it in the theaters (we were getting ready for our deployment). After I returned home the following year, I just never really thought about watching the movie.
Fast forward a few years, I went on more deployments and took a library of copied movies on DVD and eventually, those copies were converted to my laptop. Fight Club was always in my collection and I had all intentions to watch it during my time away from home, but never did.
Friends would make references to the movie long after its release. I'd hear people say the first rule is not to talk about it. I've seen this picture of Brad Pitt holding the bar of soap and I didn't know why. I just assumed he used it in a sock to beat the crap of someone (kind of like Full Metal Jacket).
This evening, I felt like going to the movies and saw the remastered 4K version was playing at one of the theaters in my area. All that I can say is "WOW!" Such a great movie. Edward Norton definitely portrayed his character well. I'm glad I finally saw it.
I found this picture of my grandparents house being physically moved in the 1960s prior to the damming of Bald Eagle Creek near Blanchard to its present location in Beech Creek.
Through eminent domain, Army Corps of Engineers dammed the creek for flood control purposes down stream and created the Foster Joseph Sayers Lake. Most homes, businesses, and churches were dismantled but some, such as this home, were physically moved to higher ground.
The house was built in 1908 and still stands today, just not in its original location. My grandmother, who passed a few years ago at the age of 97, kept her home dust-free and was a time capsule from the 1950s and 60s.
