Update: Added 'Medical' & 'Gym' categories to the Safe Space Directory + Business Owners can now self-verify! 🏳️‍🌈📍

Hey everyone,

First off, a massive thank you. The response to the directory this past weekend was incredible, and the directory is growing way faster than I expected entirely because of your overwhelming response.

I’ve been coding through the night to push out two massive updates based on your feedback:

  1. Essential Services Added: We are moving beyond just cafes! You can now filter and add verified safe spaces across new categories like Medical/Therapy, Gyms/Fitness, and Workspaces. Finding a judgment-free doctor or gym is critical, so please drop any highly-trusted spots you know!

  2. Business Owner Verification: A few of you asked if local owners could add their own inclusive spots. They now can! Owner-submitted places get a specific "Self-Declared Inclusive" badge, which only upgrades to "Community Verified" once someone from this subreddit actually visits and vouches for the vibe.

If you know any awesome clinic managers, gym owners, or cafe runners that are genuinely welcoming, send them the link to get on the map!

Hey everyone,

First off, thank you so much to everyone who dropped pins on the map this past weekend. The database is growing faster than I expected, and it's entirely because of you all.

A few people pointed out that local business owners might want to add their own inclusive cafes. I just pushed a code update tonight: owners can now submit their businesses directly!

To keep our community trust strong, owner-submitted places get a "Self-Declared Inclusive" badge. It only upgrades to "Community Verified" once someone from this subreddit actually visits and vouches for the vibe.

Hey everyone, fellow engineering student here.

A lot of the standard map apps are great for checking cafe menus around college, but they don't tell us if the crowd or staff are actually inclusive and safe for LGBTQ+ students.

I wanted to solve this, so I spent the weekend building a free, crowdsourced directory where people can drop anonymous safety "vibe-checks" on local places. I just unlocked the Pune map, but I want to make sure the spots specifically around VIT (Bibwewadi, Kondhwa, etc.) are actually represented for the students who need them.

What are the best, most welcoming cafes near campus? Drop them in the comments and I'll add them to the database!

Hey everyone! A little while ago, I shared a lightweight web app I built: a crowdsourced directory to help the community find genuinely safe, inclusive cafes and hangout spots, verified by real vibe-checks.

Originally, my plan was to keep it strictly locked to Delhi. I was terrified of the "ghost town" effect. I didn't want someone from another city to open the app, see zero places, and never come back.

But a few of you (huge shoutout to the Reddit folks!) tested the form and started dropping your local spots anyway. I was quietly saving them in a shadow database to waitlist them, but it felt like submitting a place and not seeing it go live immediately feels like your effort went into a black hole.

So, I spent this Sunday afternoon coding and just pushed a massive update live. Any city with even a single verified review is now live on the main feed!

To manage expectations, the new city filter is completely transparent about how many spots are mapped:
📍 Delhi (Growing fast!)
📍 Bengaluru (5 spots)
📍 Nagpur (3 spots)
📍 Mumbai (1 spot)
📍 Pune (1 spot)

We need pioneers.
If you don't find a place of your city, don't close the platforn! Be the pioneer who helps us map it out. It takes literally 30 seconds to add a spot you trust, but it could genuinely save someone’s weekend plans.

You can check out the live map and add your spots here: https://safer-spaces-jlm6.vercel.app/

A massive thank you to everyone in this sub who has been finding bugs, submitting reviews and basically acting as my lead product managers. Let me know what you think of the new update! 🏳️‍🌈
