Need advice: 1976 240d

Hey there, I’m looking for advice on whether I’m being stupid for even considering something like this, or silly for overthinking it. My husband and I currently share a vehicle since we work together. We have a baby on the way in less than 2 months and we are thinking I should get my own vehicle since I’ll be working at a different office part time, and also so I can go to doctors appointments, grocery shopping, etc. I probably wouldn’t be going on the freeway very much but I would still like to if I wanted to go visit my mom, or even just go to a store that’s on the other side of town. The main vehicle we have now would still be the one we use primarily and for all trips.

I found a 1976 240d with 103,000 miles. I just went to look at it yesterday with the husband and it’s in great condition. Manual 4 speed. I really love it, but I’m thinking it may be an irresponsible choice to have a baby in. My husband thinks it’s totally safe, but I don’t know if that’s just the beautiful car speaking or actual reason.

My concerns: the 76 doesn’t come with airbags, there is no middle seatbelt so the car seat would need to be hooked up on the passenger side as opposed to the middle, which I’ve heard is less safe.

Anyways, I was hoping to gain some insight from anyone that knows more about this. This is our first child too so I’m sure there are many things that we are still very naive about and we both tend to be dreamers, which is great for making things happen, but can also mean sometimes we don’t fully think things through.

Thank you!

So I’m walking and then all the sudden get hit with a sharp pain in my lower middle abdomen, upper crotch area, which forces me to drop my husbands hand and grab the area wincing in pain. It happened a few more times during the walk until I thankfully got home. Is that lightning crotch???

It started with noticing someone was pulling the weeds in front of the business I work at. In the morning, there’d be a pile of weeds and this has continued to happen. Then, I was walking on 23rd last week and there was someone who appeared to be houseless pulling weeds. Just now, I’m on the freeway and see someone pulling weeds over the railing, stretching to reach and putting the weeds in their pocket. Has anyone else been observing this too or is it just me?
