I've mostly been reading on my ipad and phone for years now, but seriously want to get into reading on an e-ink screen.
Here's what the kind of usecase i want
- ao3 (ideally i want to be able to read from browser)
- access to a google drive folder where i can
- OPTIONAL ability to download books from ao3, ann*'s arch*ve, oce*ans pdf > then change the covers separately (if possible without needing calibre but its not life ending if i need to use it)
Here are the available options for me as of rn
PROS
- lots of listings for the green variant (my favorite color)
- more affordable, i can get it rn if i wanted to
- simpler, more user-friendly interface
- superior screen
- more portable
- better battery life
CONS
- i abhor the kindle ecosystem
- idk if jailbreaking will be enough for the type of flexibility that i want (if you guys have any experience w jailbreaking that would be lovely thank you)
- i heard they can be finicky too once jailbroken, and can even revert to original status and you can lose your files on it (can anyone confirm??)
PROS
- android (fairly familiar to me)
- a lot more flexible
- i know I'll be able to do all the things i want on it
- physical buttons on the front
- 3x the price, I'll have to save for a few months more
- worse screen
- overall larger device (less portable)
- more set up involved, like theyre not good straight from the box
Basically, i want to know if a jailbroken ppw is good enough for my usecase.
