aitb for thinking i'm being funny by pretending to be interested in my coworker's new

so i've had this coworker for a bit, and they always seem to be going on and on about their pet. yesterday at lunch, they come over to me and start telling me all about their cat's latest 'adventures'. i'm trying my best to be polite and give them some basic compliments about the cute little furball, but inside i'm dying of boredom.

so, in a split second moment of boredom induced laziness, i decide to pretend like i actually care about their cat. i start asking them silly questions like "oh, what's your cat's favorite toy?" and "um, is it a good cuddler?". they're super excited to share all this 'deep' info about their feline companion with me.

now they've asked me multiple times to come over and meet the cat (again), and i feel guilty for pretending not to be interested earlier. am i being a buttface by doing so, or was it just a harmless prank in a sea of small talk?
