[Suggestion] Total noob needs help choosing between 2 PCs! (Paying €350 out of pocket via vouchers). Which is better for my fps goals?

Hey everyone,

I’m a total beginner when it comes to PC specs and I really need some advice on which of these two setups to choose. Here is my situation: I managed to buy €650 worth of store vouchers for only €350.

Both of these PCs are listed around €650-€675 at this store, which means my actual out-of-pocket cost for either of them is effectively just €350.

I want to play games like Assassin's Creed Shadows, God of War, and Black Myth: Wukong. More specifically, I'm hoping to play latest-generation games and hit a range of 80-100 fps on 1080p High settings, or a stable 60 fps at 1440p if I lower some graphical settings.

Here are the two options I'm looking at:

Option 1: Custom Build -> i7-10700KF / RTX 3060 12GB / 32gb RAM ddr4 / 1tb ssd + 2tb Hdd

• Pros: It comes with 32GB of RAM, which I feel is a huge plus right now given the current RAM crisis. The GPU also has 12GB of VRAM.

• Cons: The CPU is quite a bit older, and the base 3060 is less powerful. The listing doesn't specify what power supply (PSU) is inside, but the good news is I can physically check it in the store at the moment of purchase to make sure it's not a fire hazard.

Option 2: MSI Trident AS12th -> i5-12400F / RTX 3060 Ti 8GB / 16gb ram ddr4 / 1tb ssd + 2tb hdd

• Pros: The GPU is noticeably more powerful (3060 Ti), the CPU is newer and performs better, and I feel much safer about the power supply since it's a standard pre-built from a known brand.

• Cons: It only has 16GB of RAM. Also, since it's a compact pre-built case, it seems a lot less upgradable for the future.

Future upgradability is definitely important to me, but honestly, I probably won't touch or upgrade anything until this RAM crisis finally ends.

My questions for you guys:

  1. Which one of these gives me the best chance of hitting my 1080p/1440p fps goals?

  2. Ignoring my vouchers for a second, is €650-€675 actually a fair market value for these builds, or am I overpaying?

Any advice is hugely appreciated!

TL;DR: Total noob here. I bought €650 worth of store vouchers for only €350. Choosing between an older custom build (i7-10700KF, base 3060 12GB, 32GB RAM, unknown PSU but I can check it in store) OR an MSI pre-built (i5-12400F, 3060 Ti, 16GB RAM, reliable PSU but less upgradable). Want to play modern games at 1080p High (80-100fps) or 1440p lowered settings (60fps). Are they actually worth their ~€650 list price, and which one is better for me since my actual cost is only €350?
