This video is a little older.
She now has two times the run space. My home is the only home she has had where she can run.
They, literally, are smart ass-es.
A huge portion of our reddit community is autistics.
We like puns.
The word ass is not offensive on its outside. No word is, except ones used as absolutely vile discriminatory words.
Ass was never used discriminately. It's an ass. Almost all humans have one (rip to your body those you don't, but I hope you keep on kickin'! ... *nervous laugh.*) Kickin' here can be a little offensive, even more so than ass. And it's not a slur.
So, let's allow the word ass.
Unless the ads or Reddit themselves have rules I do not know about. Or something. I don't know what I don't know.
One thing I don't know is why smart asses can't be called smart asses! Leh donk.
There is one painting that stands out vividly to my mind.
It was an opened egg shell, with ladders and floors inside. It was its own type of art.
I wish, someday, to own a print of this painting, while supporting the artist or their surviving family. If any of their art is for sale in my budget, I really wish I could own some. Even if their art was not featured in an episode. It was a beautiful painting. The first painting that ever really caught my eye as its own, unique, deep, beautiful piece. I grew up in a shattered, abusive, broken home. This is the first art that spoke to me.
Does anyone have any information about who the artist was, their works, or where I can learn more?
...does anyone even know which episode this was in? It was in the background. It's no giraffe. I wish to see it again. I have only looked at it for about two hours in my life and that was years ago, and I can't remember the episode number.
For donkey tax, see a reply if that's allowed. I'll do it.
But let's get on topic!
My donkey's name is Carrot. She's about 250lbs and 30" at the weithers. This is considered a micro mini; but she was not bred to be small. She has insular dwarfism--Island dwarf-ification--from her Mediterranean island living donkey ancestors. She gets far longer hair than your average donkey and even gets a longer coat every winter. She's also spotted, which is rare! There's an estimated 600 spotted Mediterranean donkeys in the USA.
I use her to help manage my cPTSD symptoms.
I've been sued for having her, legally, by my sewage treatment district; a local branch of government that is supposed to manage the sewage. They didn't. I reported them to the EPA for not fully treating the sewage, not maintaining their pumps, and not doing tests, and not even having records of having done so at all. Their harassment towards me increased even more when I stopped a board member from stealing his neighbor's land. This harassment is ongoing. They're now having the police knock on my door for things that aren't illegal; such as they don't like my music even though we live in the country near one of the loudest military bases in the USA. Calling the police on me for ... parking legally. Etc. Calling the police on me for saying "or chickens" at a public meeting while they were speaking of suing me basically for having cPTSD. Seriously. Fucking nuts.
HUD is investigating.
It's a pretty crazy story.
Life has been hard.
Carrot helps a lot.
I'm a pretty happy person overall. Other than the ongoing harassment, life with a donkey is lovely.
So on these subjects, have you any questions?
I ordered the fly cream in Fall, as to be ready by Spring. I live in Kansas; we get flies like Louisiana gets mosquitos. I like to be prepared, because spring comes suddenly and when it is 90F after a week of -30, the flies have arrieved.
The cream was placed with the rest of the donkey supplies; out in our non-insulated barn. Mental box checked.
Spring came. I used up the last of my almost empty fly cream.
We had a heavy rain, so Carrot had to have new cream applied now that she has sun dried. Poor girl had a carpet of flies on her back.
No biggy. She is trained to relax and enjoy having fly cream applied with lots of love, a few low sugar treats, and scratchies.
When I picked up the cream, the plastic cup of cream was warmer than usual since it is simply so hot today.
As I go to stick a litteral stick into it, I am surprised to see bright pink. Barbie car hot pink.
My first thought was mayyyyyybe there was a chemical reaction from the heat; maybe there was just a layer of pink.
In went the stick. It was pink all the way thew!
I check the lable and yep, it is supposed to be pink!
A quick research (safety first!) shows me that they make pink fly cream for people who need to visualize the cream. Say, someone with 25 goats would want to make sure they got all goats, maybe there's a wound you want to see at a distance and know there is cream tk keep the flies off.
Anywho.
Same chemical mix, and she needs releif asap.
I grab a nice one and a half by quarter inch scrap of wood. I snap the end to make a comb and scratch that against some old bricks to soften the comb. Then I use the flat side to scoop up some cream.
I had to use a lot of positive reinforcement, patience (aka being more stubborn than a donkey,) and give her time and trust training. Because you think I am surprised by suddenly having pink cream? Carrot does NOT like sudden change.
Letting her sniff it at a distance at her leasure, she soon decided for herself that it was fly cream.
On it goes using the stick the gently scratch her and spread it like one would soft butter on toast. She loves the attention and how it feels. She gave some approval snorts so I took off her safety haulter (if she is on the haulter, she is safe. She could still run away from the color pink far enough that she could stop at a distance she felt safe from seeing something new before returning.)
Oh, and she isn't your usual brown, barely any fur at all, Shrek-looking donkey.
She is white with brown spots. Now she is pink.
She loved her new brush I got to distribute the fly cream the rest of the way.
The pink dye did indeed help me make sure I did not miss a single area.
She's going to be pink from now on.
TL;DR: I bought fly cream for my fluffy mini spotted donkey not knowing that some versions come with pink dye. The dye has no effect on her or the flies, so she is now pink.
